Les has had one game to prove Alleva wrong. You don't think that the bowl game was a damn strong start? I'm optimistic. LSU has played plenty of teams with worse defenses than Texas Tech over the last 5 years and seldom had that type of offensive production.
Chávez is one of the most highly regarded DC in the nation. Yes, we were all pissed at him when he left, but it has since become clear that Alleva was the instigator, not Chávez. Chávez was fallout from the power struggle between Alleva and Les. Other than Coach O, I can't see LSU landing an elite DC as long as Alleva is AD. Any good DC won't come as long as it looks like it may be a one year gig. Best way to not make it look like a one year gig is to let Alleva go. Our choice is basically Alleva OR an elite DC. To me that's a no brainer.
Well said. I think many of us got burned out and stayed away from TF for a little while. Like you, I genuinely like Miles, and want LSU to do well, but its time for both to move on.
Agreed, Alleva is now a huge liability, negatively impacting LSU football. After all that went down it really was an Alleva OR Les having to go situation at the end. Les is still here, so.... Keeping Alleva is a way to make the fallout even worse than it has been. Every top recruit, player or assistant coach, is being told Les is a dead man walking... don't go there.
I disagree with you and so does Vegas. With average QB play next year, LSU is one of the top handful of NC contenders. Of course if LSU has a mediocre season next year then Miles is gone and will deserve to be gone. Unfortunately such speculation harms the program.
I loved the play calling, especially that LSU didn't abandon the passing game at the first sign of trouble. Harris started solid, but then had a bad stretch mid-game. The announcers were all over him, beating him up. Criticizing the play calling. Saying it hasn't worked all year, so just give the ball to #7. That would have been the easy option. Instead LSU stuck with the passing and it paid off big time. The offense and coaching gets huge props from me for not caving. Could the offense crap out again next year? Sure. But for any fan not already hopelessly pessimistic, there is reason for hope.
Chavis was asleep at the wheel and Miles wasn't doing squat about it. I must be Alleva's biggest fan because I think this whole mess is Miles' fault, along with politics. Maybe it's misplaced, but it sure seems to me Alleva is the only one trying to get shit done. Guess we'll see what happens with basketball, there's another mess a'brewin'.
I agree. Imho, the debacle at the end of the season is the fault of f King and big mouth, spineless boosters. Alleva saw a need for change and tried to do what many fans were asking for. He didn't blab what was up to a reporter. He didn't put the kabash on firing Miles. I'm not clear on what he did to mess things up.
Where you gonna get average QB play? And how can you compete on Defense with no line depth, and no linebackers?
