Collins was handled much like Clinton-Dix in his freshman campaign. You will see a lot more next season at SS. Sentimore was a problem child. Couldn't stay out of Saban's doghouse. I think he liked school, he just wasn't crazy about going to class. Was always a good player and was above average at Tennessee. Just declared for the NFL as a junior. Who would have thunked it. On Kwon, I think he was nursing a bad injury in high school, but we knew he was a talent. Devall, Ragland, Lee, Anderson, just a numbers game on that one. Dodd, is a very talented prospect and hated to lose him, especially to the Tigers. Maybe we will look back years from now and find it was some sort of post concussion stress syndrome that he was unable to fight through. Those Georgia boys are hard to figure.
Collins will be a good player, LSU went and got a player out of the state of Tx, Jalen Mills. This was a more needed position. As a TF finished in the top 5 in tackles on the team and started every game. Kind of like LSU and Lacy. Not really, LSU has done a great job of figuring the LB's from that state, Sheppard, Minter, Riley, etc. Also last year Alexander the OL who came in this year and started a number of games in the SEC.
Whenever a kid from a rival's state commits to your team you'll often hear the home school didn't want him or he wasn't a need or was caught in a numbers game, etc.. it's not always true, obviously. It happens. Justification can take on many forms, especially if it favors your own personal allegiances. In the end, though, guys like Landon or a Joe McKnight are players LSU wanted.. it's just not always as huge a loss as it seems when it happens. We'll see how it all shakes out. I think Landon will be a quality player, but it's not like LSU's short on talent. They had Alabama dead to rights. Closing games out in the final 2 minutes is obviously an issue for this defense. It was young in spots and that will be the case again next year. Lots of bright spots though. Every year brings with it a new dynamic.
Lacy was a numbers game. RB is pretty stacked at LSU and IIRC, the Tigers were going after Michael Ford at the same time. Lacy really wanted to attend LSU, but the grades were somewhat questionable as to whether or not he would qualify. LSU snapped up Ford who had no such issues and Bama snagged Lacy who bucked down and made the grades. I have no regrets with the choice. Odds are that Lacy would have played no more at LSU than Ford did. Miles just likes rotating the RBs to keep them fresh until the 4th quarter of big games where he scraps the running game altogether and throws the ball.
