Tim Tebow's injury - will he be "over-protected" by refs?

Ohio State Buckeyes safety Kurt Coleman suspended for hit to helmet against Illinois Fighting Illini - ESPN

I saw this article about an Ohio State player who was suspended by the Big 10 commissioner after a helmet-to-helmet hit on the opposing QB. He was penalized in the game and was taken out of the game BY HIS COACHES for his bone-headed play. He was NOT ejected from the game.

And I got to wondering, if and when Tim Tebow comes back on the field, will the refs be looking for ANY reason to flag a defensive player for a hit on Tim? I'm not talking about a blatant dirty or helmet-to-helmet - - - I'm wondering if he'll be "over-protected".

I noted, too, that CUM states that he believes Tebow will be ready to play against LSU....which means this issue will probably arise for our guys. Will our D be reluctant to lay the wood to him for fear of suspension or penalty?

What do you think about this? Am I worrying over nothing? :geaux:

I'm not sure what the refs are going to do.

I know what LSU needs to do-

    BLITZ!!! BLITZ!!! BLITZ!!!

We need to get after Tebow and see if we can shake him up. We have no idea how HE is going to react.

I say we get after him, but that's next week.

    Let's get after Georgia first.

Tebow is only Tebow when he's running the ball. The Tigers will have more chances to hit him running than dropping back to pass. I don't think they'll put a skirt on him. Why would they? These are SEC refs, not Gator Refs and this should be the Game of the Year up to this point. I know they take a lot of crap, but I think we have one of the better officiated conferences (except for the illegal formation BS that is called very inconsistently when the tackles are too far off the line). Exception being the Big 10.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to islstl again.

    Nice reference there!!!!

Is it possible that the refs are gonna pay closer attention to any contact Tebows way.....I am gonna go with yes.

So what Les should do is tell the guys play aggressive and IF you do get a penalty for playing hard dont worry about it.

Me I was taught to play dirty in soccer and thats what I taught a few of my players I knew could get away with it when I coached...so I would say (to a choice few players) "Bring me his fu(king head!!!!"

Tebow must be punished. You have to blitz but, you have to disguise the blitz really well, you must make Tebow think the blitz is coming from one side and it comes from another or both sides, his confusion at the line of scrimmage is key. Tebow is a very smart quarterback and every play they run is basically an option from shotgun based on what Tebow sees at the line. If LSU can confuse him at the line of scrimmage, and if the concussion helps i'll take it, then LSU can win this game.

It is this frame of mind being displayed here that will likely make the refs flag happy for looking cross eyed at Tebow when we play. I bet they will overprotect him which means we'll get flagged for the least incident. Flags that may make a difference in the outcome. Hope not but you can bet that Meyers will be putting that in the official's heads.

Man, screw that. The refs should tell Meyer that if your player is hurt, then he shouldn't be playing. It's his job to make sure that Tebow is healthy when he puts him back on the field again, not the refs' to make sure that he is protected more than any other QB. This isn't the conference to put a less-than-healthy QB in the line of fire.

Tim Tebow is the second greatest human being to ever walk the face of the earth. Only right behind Jesus Christ. The Tiger's defense should bow down before Him and beg for forgiveness for trying to sack Him.

But as a heathen Tiger fan I hope they crusify him

Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
Ive been around for a long, long year
Stole many a mans soul and faith
And I was round when jesus christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
    Made damn sure that pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate
    Pleased to meet you
    Hope you guess my name
    But whats puzzling you
Is the nature of my game

In all seriousness, will 2 weeks rest be enough recovery from a grade 3 concussion. I mean, one good lick on him and he'll be done.
