To be honest though, don't nearly every school get run over by the Great Hoover Football Team? I would not consider them just the average run of the mill team so I take that with a grain of salt. There is a very good reason why this kid is the #1 recruit whether you think he is equal to RP or not. ANY team would be glad to have this kid join their squad.
They are in the process of re-aligning that Classification group right now. Although, I do agree that Hoover has been dominate in their grouping...look at the number of Championships. I'm not a big fan of Propst, at all. You think this will be difficult? Class 6A, Region 6 Carver, Birmingham Homewood Hoover Minor Mountain Brook Oak Mountain Spain Park Vestavia Hills
That region would be quite difficult, perhaps the most difficult region in the southeast. All those teams are damn good year in and year out. Now if only region 1 and 2 could get their act together and represent Mobile and Baldwin County. Lots of talent there, very few good coaches. It could be big time.
You've got a champ, two semi-finalist and add Spain Park and Vestavia Hills...yeah, that a tough division but a great recruiting area...course, it's been great. I haven't seen anything about 1 and 2. 6-7 look pretty good with 8 probably the worst in the state.
The North Alabama Schools will always be better than the South Alabama Schools in 6A at least. 1 and 2 has some of the largest schools in the state, like Murphy, and the largest private school in the state, McGill, but they don't have the booster support of schools like Hoover, Oak Mountain, Spain Park and Mountain Brook, I guess they are called the over the mountain schools. Lots of money in those schools right there, which is why they will be at the top for a long time. The only real south Alabama school that is good is Prattville, no one else comes close.
Looks to me like Tebow cost us Cate. Would like to have had Cate come and keep the QB line flowing. Now we dont get either and Tebow was a long shot to start with. I think Tebow played us a little and we let him. We didnt keep in touch with Cate after his commit. I hope we can close out this recruiting year strong. We are going to need good depth coming out of next year due to only having 13 sign last year. I think Jai Eugene goes elsewhere. Some of our commits dont look to good in the classroom right now. 50\50 on some of the O line we are recruiting. We need a few quality d backs and offensive lineman. Linebacker commits to honor. Keep the La players home at LSU.
I know what the Tebow family stands for...and believe you me Tim wouldn't be playing anyone. They just aren't cut of that fabric...very open, honest, and what I would call "Bible believin' folk." I've posted here already where that comes from... It's one card that I hope ways in favor of Bama because of the way Shula and Rader believe. Is it strong enough to overcome his parents going to UF and Tim following UF since childhood? I don't know...but we'll all know the 14th.
Tebow didn't cost us anything. Even if LSU was interested in Tebow, they wouldn't stop calling Cate on the chance of getting the other guy. They'd continue to call both if they were interested in both! We quit calling Cate because we quit feeling he was a necessary recruit for this class.
our staff cant comment on recruits so its likely cate & co. simply had a change of heart. we have no way of knowing what went down and/or if we stopped contacting him. take cate's change of heart with a grain of salt. and tebows visit to LSU was rumored to have been linked simply to the ESPN documentary where he used it for exposure.
If Tebow cost us Cate, then let that loser play at OSU, because if he is that scared to compete, he couldn't hang in the SEC anyway
