With all due respect man, this is complete nonsense. Tebow would be the number 1 dual threat QB even with RP in the mix. Picture a guy almost the size of Jamarcus Russell with RP's mobility. That is Tebow. Tebow is a HUGE athletic strong guy who can run as well as he can throw. I've seen him play 3 times this year and this guy is the real deal. I would love to have him.
Not a chance he'd be rated over RP. He does not throw as well as RP does, and only runs just as well, but with different style.
He is talking about Chris Smelley. He goes to school here in Tuscaloosa at American Christian Academy. He's a damn fine QB and had a VERY good game in the semifinal loss and has like 56 TD passes on the year.
Smelley is supposed to be being recruited very hard by S. Superior. I beleive there is a visit this weekend?
From what I've been told there is a visit scheduled...but not sure the exact date. I'm sure he'll get an in home visit from SOS before the 12/14 announcement from Tebow.
According to what I've heard the "official school visit" by SOS was yesterday afternoon. I don't consider it to be a big deal...gosh, over two months till signing day and people are already wringing thier hands. I can see it AFTER football season..but this is a year long thing in the SEC. :thumb:
I have to agree with you. You can't make a comparison right now on the Sr. stats because Tebow is still playing...but if you look at Jr. vs RP Sr..... Tebow: Threw for state-record 4,286 yards and 46 TDs and rushed for 1,266 yards and 24 TDs for an 11-2 team as a junior. RP as a Sr.: Rush: 226 attempts, 1460 yds, 37 TDs Pass: 342 attempts, 225 completions, 3546 yds, and 30 TDs. So, based on what's here he's more of a passing/pro-set QB not relient so much on running versus what's been posted here that the arm is worse and running is even. Caveat: Of course, like I mentioned this is one Jr. compared to one Sr. And, we've seen many, many highly rated QB's that never live up to the "potential" we as fans and respective coaching staff's see. That #1 QB that went to UF and then left to go to FSU and play for 2 years comes to mind....although his name does not. If there is one area, like most QB's coming out of high school, is he needs to improve on his technique for this level. (Div. 1- SEC). He has the tools, no doubt. Already has good arm strength, good mobility, is qualified ( ) ...
AS for Tebow I saw this kid play The Great Hoover Football team and he got rattled! He will need at least a redshirt before he is ready to play big time college football. He made some plays, but he is no where near RP in talent!
I saw that also. No doubt he'll need a redshirt...but he'd probably need that anywhere simply because of his technique. As tall as he is, and playing in high school, I'm not surprised his posture and footwork need some work. That Hoover football team has won 3 out of the last 4 state titles...that school gets a ton of talent in. Bottom line, and by no means am I discounting RP, but we simply won't know what either QB has to offer for awhile. Heck, RP isn't going to see a lot of PT until JR graduates, will he? Not to mention Tebow will be coming in behind 4 QB's we already have on campus. JPW greyshirted, was able to work out with the team during last years bowl practices, had spring, summer and fall workouts not to mention this year under the system. That's a lot for ANYONE to come in with just fall practice and overcome. Did RP red-shirt this year?
I think that visit is this weekend. I will do some checking but I think I am about 95% correct about that.
