Teabow will go to UF (parents are Alumni) or to Bama. He has came to 3 of our games so far. One official and two on his own dime. Word is that he is coming back for the LSU game.
Cate is nothing like Lane. Tebow is like Lane a lot more than Cate. Both Tebow and Lane were decent runners and very raw passers.
I don't know him. How can I like him or dislike him? I just posted an opinion. You must be the spelling nazi. Betcha got a whole buncha red marks all over your monitor from trying to correct spelling.
We were also saying that about Alex Cate (who's ranking varies a little between a 3-star and 4-star, depending on the recruiting site). I know that you always want the best player, but in this situation--where we already have 2 former Top-15 QB's currently RS-Soph., and another blue chip Freshman (RP) already here, I would hate to see Cate, after being loyal ever since his verbal commitment, to be left out should Tebow play us all the way to signing day.... I think it's a ploy. I think Tebow will end up at Florida where his skills make him a better fit for the spread option and he's just making Meyer and the Gators work hard for his signature.
If only for the fact that if we have FOUR 4-star players (with the OLDEST being Juniors) then before long, at least one of them is going to get restless about waiting his turn and leave. I think Cate has the right attitude (coming in, knowing there are already 3 more QB's on the roster that were rated higher than he is when they came out of high school) and gives us the better chance of keeping all 4 on scholarship.
But what good is a QB that can run all over the place, but has trouble with the "touch pass" and accuracy??? Too many players with the SAME abilities isn't a good thing, IMO. You need to diversify your QB's a little. Nothing wrong with having a pocket passer with a cannon (JR), a pocket passer with touch who's above average avoiding a rush (MF), a balanced dual-option (RP) and a passer with sound technique and mechanics (Cate) without any egos, that with a couple of years of coaching, is probably better for the team than someone that doesn't quite have the reputation as being accurate, but will seemingly look to run first (Tebow)...
