Did anyone catch the 3rd Quarter of yesterday's Dallas-San Antonio game? Now, I don't watch much NBA, but mild-mannered Tim Duncan was given two technicals and thrown out of the game from his seat on the bench. The second technical was given because he was smiling and laughing with a teammate. Video evidence shows that he didn't even say anything, or really even look in that ref's direction. Throwing a player out of a game is a big deal, especially someone as good as Duncan. His ejection was totally unprovoked. This was the most blatant abuse of power I have ever seen and that referee should be suspended.
I saw it and thought it was BS. He was literally sitting and laughing with his teammate. Wasn't even looking in the officials direction. I guess he just assumed he was laughing about getting the technical and thought he deserved another.
Duncan saidd the ref asked him if he wanted to take this outside but the ref said he did not try to start a fight with Duncan. If this is true, I can see why Duncan was laughing so hard. Everytime an old threatens me with fighting words I cant but laugh uncontrollably.:hihi:
A referee's job is to make sure he calls an objectively clean game. This guy is an a**hole on a power trip. He ejected the most quiet, humble, reserved superstar in the game. For no reason.
I'm not a big Duncan fan, but how could anyone not side with him on this. Crawford has always been known for his quick whistle and it seemed like he had an agenda yesterday...or was certainly hearing things.
I hope Stern lets them fight kinda like Dick Bavetta and Barkley raced during the All-Star weekend. Joey Crawford is a jerk and deserves a fine for treating Tim Duncan like that.
Whoa there. I won't comment at all on the ejection yesterday since I did not see it. It does sound questionable. But Tim Duncan whines and complains about calls all the time. He constantly gives the refs hard times about calls that don't go his way. Frankly, I was surprised the first time I saw him play in person. I had the exact same misconception due to his reserved style off the court. But he gets indignant real quick on the court and I lost a ton of respect for him. Still a great player though.
Could certainly add to the fact that he went to Wake Forest as another reason I should hate him. Though, any man that is good in basketball and swimming has my respect. Not many cross those two boundaries.
