A tit for tat between the two: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2984974 I'm very far from an Eli Manning fan but I feel like Tiki's comments were really a cheap shot especially now that he hides behind a mircrophone. Tiki may be right but IMHO you just don't call a teammate out like that. Good to see that Eli actually has some fire in his belly.
If he had something to say, he should have done it last year. This is pretty low on Tiki's part. Eli is terrible, however.
This is what happens when there's not enough legit football news and people are clamoring for more. Tiki didn't exactly rip Manning, nor did Manning rip Tiki. Of course ESPN is going to blow it up to make a story, but it seems like players can't say anything remotely approaching honesty without it being "PLAYER A RIPS PLAYER B! READ ALL ABOUT IT!" Tabloid journalism at work.
yeah this is being blown way out of proportion. At Manning's age Tiki was a 3rd down back who seemed to fumbled every other time he touched the ball. he of all people should understand struggling early in your pro career. The more I hear Tiki talk the more I think Tiki just loves to hear himself talk. He seems like a smart guy that is just desperate to prove it to everyone.
Funny how Tiki can stand up for Eli all year long for a couple of years and then BAM...he isnt good anymore? I hate player speak. Also, Im sure NBC wants him to be controversial so I bet TIKI's true feelings are somewhere in the middle of liking his play and disliking it.
while tiki's comments were bad judgement coming from a former teammate (shades of canseco), manning didnt defend himself. contrary to popular opinion, he just tried to make tiki look bad instead of address the leadership barb. eli would have looked much better imo if he would have said "bs tiki, im a leader because ...."
Nobody likes a liar though. That's why you don't hear Coughlin or Strahan or anybody else stepping up either. Not a leader to be found on that roster (though I'm optimistic about Cory Webster.) :hihi:
