there is nothing to be embarrased about. We played a scrappy team in a downpour. We held them to 1 touchdown, and then gave them 2 points. I don't understand why people cannot see that JJ didn't turn the ball over. He is playing close to the chest, and not making any serious mistakes. This is the what 4th game he has started? The D shut them down in the 2nd half, offensive line needs to get better in pass protection, maybe they will have to keep scott in the backfield to help protect and go 4 wide, remember alot of the offense in the first half was 5 wide, empty backfield. JJ needs to get the ball out quicker, but he will learn that. Get down from the ledge, because there more positives that came out of this game than negatives.
You're not too far off... other then JJs 1st series where he threw into the ground twice, (although I think Lafell caught that pass, I was sitting prolly 15 yards from that play)... I don't think LSU made too mnay terrible mistakes on offense other than Sheps fumble and a few over thrown/dropped passes. I do think our D played a great deal better then last week, I saw a lot more violent hits tonight. Lee threw a good pass, and we got an INT... couldn't ask for more considering the weather was pissy. I sat down in the 4th row and got soaked. But I will say this... I think due to the low score and the very conservative play calling... I think we drop to somewhere between 13-15th place. I enjoyed this game to the fullest... but for petes sake WTF... 3rd and Goal on the 4 with :06 seconds left... and we kick a FG... I think with the momentum we had at that point we should've gone for the TD... and I think we should be taking more shots into the endzone. As a team we performed well imo, the O-Line needs some work and give JJ more time... but that'll come. But we have got to get aggressive and start striking quick and early.
ok a win is a win-----but my gosh---- we shouldve/could've run the ball every time and won by 35 points-- and not let other teams know our plays-- how may times did we line up with 5 wr's on 3 and outs?---- i mean the rain can be blamed for only so much..... I cant tell if these close games LSU is winning is b/c of the player's athletic ability or the coaching calls--- can you ? im not a hater , im a true fan and know lsu's limitations and if we dont start getting back to greatness we can expect the same results as last year---Which im sort of ok with - in the first two weeks--- i have high doubt we beat ALA, GA, or florida--- hell im glad we dont play south carolina this year. you can either agree or disagree- but either prove , disprove, or debate , but please dont state im not a true fan---- true fans offer opinions and constructive criticism---- and arent afraid to comment where the press is afraid to tread. look how long charlie weiss has been the coach at notre lame--- the press didnt even question his two passes when he shouldve ran the ball to closeout a win against michigan. the o line outweighed michigan by about 50-60 lbs and ran all day on them-- yet he passes? moron ok and if poor sheppard can't hold on to the ball after a hit- we got other problems--- i dont think we drop in the polls-- i mean we won a conference game against a team that beat boston college last year--
How is our offense supposed to learn and grow if we run the ball every play? You've got to allow the mistakes to happen in games like this so the team can learn from them and lock it down by the time we get to the meat of the schedule. It wasn't pretty last night, but the defense is making adjustments and getting better. The offense will come around, and it's becoming obvious that we have two really good receivers in LaFell and Toliver. Once Jefferson settles in and Crowton takes the training wheels off, I think this team is going to look really, really good. Give the kid a break. He's playing in his first game, and he came back much better later in the game.
I'm not sure what this thread is asking for. We are already #9 in the Coaches poll, which is all that counts. Not sure why anybody is still looking at the AP poll and worrying about it. I projected LSU to #6 in the Coaches poll (see thread). Worst case is #7.
Okay, so Florida still hasn't played a team with a pulse. Alabama was losing to Florida International for a while last night. And UGA squeaked by a South Carolina team that mustered all of 7 points against NC State in the most boring game of week 1. Oh, and the team that made UGA look foolish last week lost to Houston yesterday. I think we're in for yet another crazy year in college football and predicting loses to any teams on our schedule is, at this point, quite premature. And what's embarrassing about beating a team that scored over 40 points last week by 2 TDs, while holding them to one? And Vandy wasn't 0-fer last year. They were a bowl-winning team.
i dont care about rank-- i care about wins and the offensive and defensive schemes. and since it was raining passing the ball all the time to get them reps means nothing-- we passed for not even 200 yards----- we still have a long way to go to run the ball effectively--- perfect one while working on the other-- a strong ground game makes the passing game open up. the only benefit to being ranked so high is that if( im being positive) we lose 2-3 games we could still remain in the top 20-25 and maintain our bowl selection.
YES@ Tigers in the top 10 in both polls! islstl called it - #7 in coaches and #9 in AP. p.s. this is my 1000th post! woot!
