Saints pick up 6'6" receiver Brandon Coleman, who was team captain, and RB Tim Flanders, 5'9", 207lbs (ala Dalton Hilliard), who is reportedly a high character guy, too. Saints have a propensity to find diamonds in the rough. Let's hope this is the case here, and are great for the locker room, too.

FYI: #LSU had NINE picks in the 2014 #NFLDraft the most in the country! It's 60 picks since 2006 are the most in the #SEC pic.twitter.com/iWLfbYBCit
FYI: This one has to leave a mark..... Texas Longhorns Go Undrafted in NFL Draft for 1st Time Since 1937 Who said Mack Brown couldn't develop talent? Wide receiver Mike Davis, defensive end Jackson Jeffcoat, defensive tackle Chris Whaley and cornerback Carrington Byndom were among the Longhorns with draft aspirations, but they've instead joined the ranks of the undrafted free agents. Mike Davis came close to signing with LSU, looking back.......
How does LSU produce so many NFL draft picks? Recruiting is one good answer. Another is development. The Tigers set an NFL draft record with six defensive players picked in the first two days (top three rounds), finishing with a school-record nine players drafted overall. The Tigers did it with a mix of players: several who were highly regarded coming out of high school and lived up to the hype, and a surprising number of players who developed their talents after coming to Baton Rouge, La. Of the nine Tigers picked, five were not ESPN 150 picks coming out of high school. Here are LSU's draft picks, broken down by player, round drafted, team, recruiting year, star rating (if applicable) and ESPN 150 status DE Barkevious Mingo, first round, Cleveland, 2009, (no star ratings in 2009 class or earlier), not in ESPN 150 S Eric Reid, first round, San Francisco, 2010, 4 star, No. 72 ESPN 150 LB Kevin Minter, second round, Arizona, 2009, No. 133 in ESPN 150 DT Bennie Logan, third round, Philadelphia, 2009, not in ESPN 150 DB Tyrann Mathieu, third round, Arizona, 2010, 3-star, not in ESPN 150 DE Sam Montgomery, third round, Houston, 2009, No. 26 in the ESPN 150 CB Tharold Simon, fifth round, Seattle, 2010, 4 star, No. 91 in the ESPN 150 DE Lavar Edwards, fifth round, Tennessee, 2008, not in the ESPN 150 RB Spencer Ware, sixth round, Seattle, 2010, 4 star, not in ESPN 150 Yep, this was last year, more of the same this year. Looking at next years roster, look for this to continue. On this year: LSU did it again when it comes to the NFL draft. With four players taken Friday, LSU had a total of five players taken in the first three rounds of the 2014 NFL draft. For a little history, LSU had 6 players taken in the first 3 rounds last year, 4 in 2012 and 5 in 2011. Before that, LSU never had more than 4 players taken in the first 3 rounds. Now it has happened three of the last four years. SportsIllustrated.com continued its player breakdowns and Chris Burke evaluated the surprising jump by LSU's Ego Ferguson. "Chicago's challenge will be getting Ferguson to dominate -- and he's capable of dominating -- in more than just spurts. He won't be asked to do a whole lot early, with Jay Ratliff at tackle. That's probably for the best." NFL.com's Dan Hanzus likes Cincinnati's selection of Jeremy Hill. He writes, "A downhill runner who can bust through contact, Hill completes an intriguing thunder-and-lightning combination with second-year back Giovani Bernard." YahooSports.com also offered player breakdowns of Jarvis Landry ("The Dolphins drafted a receiver whose hands are perhaps the best in the draft.") and Trai Turner ("The Panthers pass up tackle and receiver options to draft a physical, athletic guard or center who likely needs a little development time.") How many former LSU players will join their teammates as NFL draft picks when the draft continues Saturday? Last year's record of nine players taken in one draft could be in jeopardy.
Trivia: Don't peek now.............Name the first African-American LSU player to get drafted in an NFL Draft?... the answer may surprise you.
As long as Miles, Wilson, etc keep bringing this amazing talent to LSU we will continue to compete for championships. Need to keep bringing in top notch qb's in order to reach the summit more often and hopefully Cam makes this happen.
You just need a QB to play within the system. Flynn and Mauck did this. With Cam and Chief, we will do well. Chief is getting the CB's he wants, put them out their and he can handle the rest of the field. Cam has made his pass through the SEC, gonna be fun to watch this year.
