Not that I want to keep rehashing "the Call" and the Bama game, but I was listening to the local ESPN radio last nite, and the show hosts brought up a couple of interesting points that I really didn't think of. 1) Was due to the timing of Meyers 30k fine, Miles was somewhat handcuffed as to how he reacted to and disputed the call. In that any extreme level of protest may have been viewed negatively. 2) That the dispute of whether or not LSU could have won had the call been made differently, their contention was that it isn't really a debate, LSU would have won. Their thought was that the momentum shift of Peterson having made the int would have motivated and fired up an LSU squad to move down the field, milk the clock, and be able to score. Instead they had the wind knocked out of them and ended up playing from a catch up position that made it a very difficult situation for Lee and the Tigers to deal with.

I found that very interesting and probably spot on, what say you guys?

I think we could have driven the field and scored. Would it have happened, no one will ever know.

My thing with Miles, is i don't want this team to fall apart now like we did last year after the Bama loss. LSU put everything they had into that game, kind of like this season, and it killed the focus of that team, players just gave up, you had Byrd not running routes, you had Alem kicking balls, and stupid penalties, having to come back from an obscene deficit against Troy. I think if Miles would have just come out and said something like "we know the wrong call was made, and wish we would have had the opportunity to take the lead with a drive. We are doing everything we can to ensure that something is done about the level of officiating in the best conference in the nation. But this team is better than that, we have put it behind us and are looking forward to finishing out this season with this damn strong football team."

I think that would have rallied the team, and the fanbase, and if he got fined, screw it, he gets fined, if he gets suspended, do you have any idea what the LSU Nation would have done??? Any Miles naysayers would have been gone, and shut up immediately.

Think about it, how would the nation, and the Tiger Nation have reacted if Miles would have been suspended?

while i dont argue that fans would have been in an uproar and it would have brought even more bad press to slive, i want miles on the sideline, not suspended. i know many will disagree with me on that, but i am in the camp that believes that what bit the playbook has been opened up has been miles, not crowton.

i still believe that even tho immediately after i wanted miles to tear into slive and the officials, that he handled it the right way.

i dont think this team will roll over and play dead like they did after the bama game last year tho. last year the biggest problem that kept them from winning that game was internal. this time they know it was an outside factor that took away them at least having the chance to try to score again when they made the opportunity to do so with good defense.

Ridley was about to be unleashed. LSU would have ran the ball down the field for a score to take the lead.

I think she is. I don't see the wheels falling off of this team. If that were to happen, it would've happened before now.

Let's look at where we were at this point last year:

    *Embarrassing blow-out loss to UF.
*En route to a record-setting # of pick sixes with no QB improvement noted.
*Defense giving up gobs of points in games.
*Lack of senior leadership--and even worse, guys who seemed to be causing controversy (Byrd, RJF w/ the stupid Tebow comments, etc.)

This team is playing with pride and has heart that the '08 squad was lacking.

The real issue that continues to get lost is that the "Interception" call was but one of many bad calls or no calls against LSU that occurred from the very first drive of the game.

Conspiracy, bias or incompetence, LSU was screwed the entire game and the game was called unfairly against LSU.

Alabama is a great team and beating them is difficult. Playing against them with the deck stacked against you is impossible.

The moment I saw the ref screw Jefferson on the placement of the ball on the first drive that resulted in LSU punting instead of a first down, I knew the game was over for LSU. I even mentioned it to my wife who isn't familiar with what a team is historically up against when playing at Alabama. She knows now.

Which makes our performance even that more impressive. We shoulda won the dang thing. Unfortunately, playing against Bama and the boys in stripes makes it a tall mountain to climb. Your post makes me even more proud of how we played. Thanks:thumb:
