Considering they're undefeated at home it was about as expected. No? That's a really good team that they hung with throughout. Hit free throws and it's a win.
That's happens almost every game. (The "Out coached" part) We win games strictly on a talent advantage. JJ can't technically coach his way out of a wet paper bag. Fact. Even with Simmons, we have practically no inside game and wins are contingent on the guards hitting their shots. Treloar was supposed to come in and teach a litlte defense. Didn't happen. I've seen more coherent and organized Offensive basketball out on the playground. It's simply throwing up shots and hoping enough go in the hole to win. It is what it is. Bubble NCAA team. If they get in, will be a quick exit. What happens next season without Simmons and Hornsby?
If they get in as a bubble team, they would most likely be a 12 seed that nobody would want to play in round 1.
I guess where we are as a program, just making the tourney is huge. Simmons is good but not the game changer we all hoped. Another year with Simmons would be dope, but he has a kings ransom waiting for him in the pros.
@TheRealist and @tirk are spot on. They played well. Not spectacular, but not poorly. I don't see how anyone could argue poor coaching in that game. That's just pre-conceived non-sense. You are seeing what you expect, or just toting the party line.
Well our fan base has blinders on and can only see the negatives. Our coach sucks and our team underperforms (vs privileged expectations). Meanwhile, national observers see something different: a team that is starting to come together and is challenging for SEC title. Sure it would have been great to win last night, but aside from TQ not having a good game, and FTs (consistently our Achilles heel), we played well against a quality team on the road.
I didn't see the game, but in general, close barely counts in basketball. We already have a moral victory against OU, I hardly think the same vs USCe is worth celebrating. I'll be disappointed if we don't make the tourney with gentle Ben.
