I am trying to become more active on this forum. I was a lurker for a long time, but started posting more this year, especially during the surprising LSU baseball run, which continued the great start of the year (along, of course, with that BCS Championship Game victory).

What I am wondering is where those of you non-Louisiana people are stationed and whether or not there is a visible LSU fan base in your area.

I moved to Korea last year and will be here for a while longer, but eventually I will return to the US. I don't know if that means moving back to Louisiana, though, depending on the economy when I decide I am ready to return. If I don't move back to Louisiana, I would put a Tigers fan base as one of the
considerations in locating. So, where are you?

I'm in Houston. Large LSU! alumni assn. and fan base here. The economy is doing well now, as Houston is tied to oil, and oil is up. Also, cheapest housing market in a major metro area in the US (plentiful land and illegal labor).

It's flat, hot in summer, and humid (almost as bad as NO, but NO takes the cake IMO). Not scenic. But wages are national scale, and living relatively cheap, so you can save for retirement. And, La. is close enough to go visit when you want. Public schools are good in most areas, but you have to be careful. All my kids went to public school. Also have to ask about flooding, some areas flood routinely, others infrequently, some never flood.

I will second that. I lived in Clear Lake ( by NASA ) and the housing, schools and LSU fan base (also a lot of Sec fans ) make it a good place close to home if you can not live in louisiana.

Houston is actually on the top of my list (I was in The Woodlands for half of my visit to the US), but I want to hear about other places, too.

Am currently serving a tour in Afghanistan through March. I got a pretty good deal though--I'm not in a tent and the bathrooms are only across the hall. And, one of my roommates is also a Tiger, though he graduated several years after I did.

The internet is doing a good job of keeping me up-to-date.
