You're right. That's why I'm not a fan of lefty. He's the most aggravating player to watch. 18 at Winged Foot is the best example. Had the US Open won and phucked himself out of it by pulling driver on 18 tee. And sure 13 at Augusta was a great shot out of the woods, but he misses the 8 footer for eagle. Lefty even admits why he loves Augusta so much....he can get away with his stupid shots there. He can't get away with them at either of the Open's.
As for Tiger, his putter is absolutely killing him. Tee to green he's much better than when he started the year. It's the flatstick that's letting him down. He'll be ok. This year is wash with all he's going through personally. The tour better enjoy this Tiger while they can. Tiger will be back.
Tiger will be 35+ when he tees it up at Augusta next April. It will have been almost 3 years since he won a major, assuming he doesn't win at Whistling Straits. Combine that with the fact that I don't think the players fear Tiger like they used to and I've got doubts that he will catch the Bear.
Bingo Can only use the I cheated and a sex addict excuse for so long. He needs a swing coach and more practice on the greens.
35 is not a big deal in golf. It's been 2 years since he won a major. Paul Azinger said it best during The Open Championship broadcast. For the first time, Tiger isn't single-minded on the golf course. His family problems seem to be really bothering him. (self-inflicted, but a real issue nonetheless) His swing actually looks better without Haney, who I think is extremely overrated. I do think a certain swing coach would help him, but that bridge was burned a long time ago.
Tiger knows his swing better than anyone. With todays video technology he can see what needs to be fixed. I think he needs to play more. The Open was only his 6th or 7th tournament this year.
I started thinking this exact same thing at the US Open. It seems more of a challenge now than it did a few years ago but he will probably play at a high level well into his mid 40's. Tiger is in great physical condition and more golfers are getting on the conditioning bandwagon. I think it will help prolonging their high level of play as they age.
Tiger's in excellent physical shape except for the knees. He had the ACL surgery on the left knee in 2008 and he's had numerous scope jobs on both knees. Sooner or later that has to impact his swing you would think.
Sure but many golfers have said that reviewing their own swing on film can be very difficult given biases, etc... For someone like Tiger with so much confidence, I can see it being an issue and we are seeing the results so far. I think he needs to be a little less stubborn and submit to some coaching. It worked wonders in the past. He also needs a caddy who has the balls to break his driver at the start of every tournament.
Tiger won 14 majors hitting driver all over the course. Right now as DOTB said, it's the flat stick, not the big stick that's killing him.
