OMG, I'm a big time poster? *squee* lol My sig's Shakespeare, and I'm a writer with a keen appreciation of the classics, both lit and poetry...and it's cool to know that someone on the board loves football and the written word. Maybe next year...the game experience was awesome, so I'm already planning on a trip in '10 without the kids so that I'm free to be on campus allllllllll daaaaaaaaaay. I can't believe I missed so many people. Of course, I made it to campus around 4ish, so it's understandable...very unfashionably late.
Yes, Richard III, which is, ironically, one of my least favorite works. But I thought the quote fitting for me. I really cannot wait until next year...made this one with several family members/two generations, which made it all the more special. Here are a few pics, one of me and my bro (my oldest sister is taking the pic)...the three of us have been to three games together over the past decade and all were games we won as underdogs or at the last second, and we think we should continue the good karma in '10. The other pic is of the team entering the field and the Arkansas section...close to where my nephew (an Arkie grad) was sitting and sobbing :hihi:.
Ah, Julius Caesar, one of my favs. Here's to next season's meet ups, and to another of my favorite of the Bard's works, Henry V: But when the blast of war blows in our ears, Then imitate the action of the tiger; Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood, Disguise fair nature with hard-favoured rage; Then lend the eye a terrible aspect. I kind of think of Patrick Peterson when I read that. :hihi:
Probably my favorite..I'm a fool for Medieval warrior kings and he fits the bill to a "T"!. Since you've taken the next season, I will take the bowl game with the bard...but with some slight alterations How yet resolves the coach of your team? This is the latest parle we will admit. Therefore to our best mercy throw in the towel, Or like men proud of shutouts Defy us to our worst: for as I am a Linebacker Of a damn-strong football team A name that in my thoughts becomes us best We will not leave the field after three hours Till in your tears you lie injured and broken! Therefore you weakling players Take pity on yourselves and on your school, Whilst yet the refs have us bound by stupid penalties Whilst yet the cool and temperate wind of sportsmenship O'erblows the filthy and contagious clouds Of heady murder, spoil, and villany If not, why, in a moment, look to see The blind and bloody nose tackle with foul hand Defile the locks of your shrill-shreaking mascot Your coach taken by the headset And their most reverend heads dash'd to the walls Your naked infants spitted upon pikes Whilst the mad mothers, with their howls confused Do break the clouds
Well played, sir. Actually, that and the rest of the quote reminds me of last year's bowl game and Johnson learning a thing or two about respecting one's opponents. What say you? Will you yield and this avoid? Or guilty in defense, be thus destroyed? :hihi: I somehow think JoPa will be much more diplomatic (I'm guessing they will be our opponents in the bowl) about his competition in the game.
JoePa's answer should be the same as the governor, if he knows what's best for him:thumb: By the way, I know I skipped some of the lines, but Brannagh's version always sticks out in my mind
