    A Final Word

Information in its own right is not subject to copywrite statutes and thus not subject to "prosecution under the fullest extent of the law" the way that pictures, interviews, features, videos, audio, etc. are in that pictures, interviews, features, videos, audio, etc. would be considered to be "intellectual property."
For example if Rivals said that Xavier Carter had secretly committed to LSU to Nick Saban that would be simple information that would not be copywriteable. If there was a video on their site shot by Rivals own video crew or a video shot by someone else and sold to Rivals that showed Carter verbally committing to Saban that video would be the exclusive intellectual property of Rivals. There is no way that a person who posted an informational post on a non commercial site like Tigerforums that simply said something like "Rivals says Carter commits to LSU" would ever be "prosecuted under the fullest extent of the law."

Don't you think that websites that charge a membership fee are not aware that some of the information published on those sites will be distributed throughout the internet? The legal agreement that subscribers click on when they join was written by the site owners attorneys to rightfully protect them from copywrite infringement in the case of commercial reuse of that material.

For Alaman to respond to Soap's thread starter request for some simple information with his priggish admonishment is the anal act of a sanctimonious prick. We are all familiar with the type. The guy who ratted to the teachers about his classmates smoking in the boys room and probably grew up to be an incompetent lawyer who could only make a living by chasing ambulances and filing frivolous lawsuits. The type who would sue his former classmates for the well deserved ass whippings he got if only the statute of limitations hadn't run out. The type of guy who makes a career out of sucking up to those whose perceived authority vastly exceeds his own while those same "authority figures" use him as a flunky while despising him as much as the people he rats on.

Tigerforums has become a successful community of LSU fans many of whom don't have access to some info on their own either because the course of their lives has taken them far away from TigerTown or because no one has the time or interest to have access to every bit of available information. Most of us have an interest in the information that other members post here, not because we want to resell the info for commercial profit but because we are simply interested as LSU fans in knowing as much as it is possible for us to know about all areas of LSU football and other sports. In the time I have been a member of Tigerforums.com the site has grown at least tenfold. The reason for that growth is because of the shared information that is posted by the members. Nobody here has advocated breaking any laws (Hey, Buddy - tell me what you saw on Rivals and I'll give you some crack)
