Any golf fans here? TW returned to competitive action today for the first time in 15 months. I was able to watch him play the back 9 where he shot a 4 over par 40 to finish at 1 over 73. He putted OK with 26 putts. When he missed with his driver they were all left. Short game was iffy as was his iron play. There's no cut so he will be able to play 4 rounds. The TV execs are thrilled to have him back.
-3 under on the front? Not too shabby considering the layoff. He'll obviously never be the player that he was, but it would be good to seem him in contention on Sundays if he can get his shit together mentally and if he can stay healthy
I want to see what he does in regular, full field Tour events next spring. Like Pebble Beach, Bay Hill, & Augusta. Although he looked to be in good shape, he was exhausted at the end. Guess he spent too much time in the golf cart.
It's obvious the long layoff did his body some good. I'm glad he didn't rush coming back this time. His swing looks more fluid now, and not nearly as violent as it used to be. If he stays healthy, I think he can come back to winning on a regular basis, like 4/5 wins a year. A confident/healthy Tiger is a scary thing for the rest of the PGA.
As I wrote earlier, I'm anxious to see how he does in full field events with all of the top players in the field.
