Anyone know the record for db level in Tiger Stadium. having big discussion on another forum with Clemson fans and they say their stadium is far louder. Anyone have a Youtube or Wikipedia source for LSU record?? Thanks.:geaux:
Those bums probably heard Saban and a bunch of other SEC coaches being quoted as saying "Death Valley is the loudest stadium in the world !" and they started beating their chests...confusing the REAL Tiger Stadium with the ersatz tiger stadium in South Carolina. I bet it wasn't that loud last year when Saban's team played them there..
Any time I've heard (either) Death Valley mentioned, both clock in at 130db, just shy of the record for a college football game. In fact, here's a wikipedia article about Tiger Stadium http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_Stadium_(LSU)#Death_Valley In the article about Husky Stadium, it points out a large part of it comes from bouncing off the metal roof on the North and South sides back down to the field. Future renovation plans call for the same type of roof to be added over the west side completely, leaving the east side of the horseshoe open for the view of Lake Washington. It's been 17 years since those 135db were recorded in Husky Stadium, and hopefully our team can get back up there to making the crowd that into the game again. Note, the camera shaking for the LSU game was still under capacity in the stadium, and the USC game was 9000 people less.
No, they're Death Valley too, though I'm not entirely clear why. We were referred to as "Deaf Valley" a long time ago and, in a case of massive auditory irony, someone heard "Death Valley" instead of "Deaf Valley" and TADAAAA- nickname.
Frank Howard visited Death Valley in california and brought back a rock from there and they named the stadium death valley because of that 1 rock.
Well, that makes sense. TCUTiger has it easy then- just tell them that at least our name has a story behind it.
