After crunching the numbers, the Tigers are much more likely to win verses top 25 teams on artificial turf than natural grass. Since 2003 LSU is 9-1 on field turf v top 25 opponents (the one loss coming to UGA in the 2005 SEC championship game after the Tigers had played 11 consecutive weeks due to Katrina) and 15-10 v top 25 opponents on natural grass. Further validating my argument, the average score for LSU’s ten games on artificial turf since 2003 is LSU- 29.5, top 25- 15.9; while the average score of the 25 games played on natural grass during the same time period is LSU- 24.88, top 25- 24.2. Finally, the average ranking was 8.9 for the opponents played on artificial turf verses an average ranking of 11th for the opponents played on natural grass.
To summarize, LSU wins more often and by a larger margin against higher ranked opponents when playing on artificial turf when compared to natural grass, this is why Tiger Stadium needs field turf IMMEDIATELY!!

    1- Artificial Surface Field= $1M

Field Turfs Life span= 5 years

Home games played in five season= 40

    Tickets sold for 40 home games= 3.6M

That would come out to a per ticket increase of

    .27 cents!!
...are you willing to pay 27 cents more per ticket for the tigers to win nine of ten games at home verses the top 25? Or would you like to keep your 27 cents?

Personally...I wouldn't mind something different than the crap we have now. For two years in a row our field has been garbage. Field Turf...a new type of grass...whatever it takes.

Oh yeah...I almost forgot...SUCK IT BAMA!

    a misconception people have is that it's a one-time, one-cost deal.

    it's not.

they've put in a new carpet in the indoor building damn near every year.

and even when they don't, it costs a lot to wash that rug to prevent bacteria (like staph) from getting in it.

Why? Is their something sacred about bad grass? Football was meant to be played with leather helmets... I don't see anyone complaining about that modernization.

Personally, I think having such a terrible playing surface, as we have currently, is a disgrace to the venerable stadium. With the decreased sunlight penetrating the stadium, due to the new upper deck, field turf is the only option we have for the quality of the field to match the quality of our stadium, team and university.

The cost could be $4M per annum; it still wouldn't be prohibitive.
