In the final analysis, it's only girls' softball, a sport the West Coast will dominate for years to come.
It is a crappy way but unavoidable. Nothing can be done to legally bind anyone in this situation. Sure you could get a signature here or there in principal but LSU and the lawyers know it won't hold up and not worth bringing to court. Lets say we won the case which isn't likely in this situation it would take money and a ton of time to really solve nothing. When tax money is used to pay coaches the state has a long process of checks and balances that can't be skipped over. To many people and bodies have a say and that goes for all public universities. Also, Murphy had the leverage he needed from the start. Bama offered to match and were willing to give him what he needed. So I don't buy that either. Sounds like a simple case of cold feet IMO.
Patrick Murphy talks to The Birmingham News' Izzy Gould: Patrick Murphy Q&A on his return to Alabama from LSU | al.com If Murphy is willing to make major decisions without even superficially considering the consequences, then I don’t feel that his backing out is much of a loss. If that comes off as sour grapes, so be it…
he sounds like he really did just make an emotional decision. Cries a ****ing lot though which is somewhat off-putting. Then again, when you are around that much estrogen hes probably on the same cycle as them. a little midol cleared his head right up. i forgive him.
Objection Your honor, the reporter is leading the witness.....sustained !! No wonder they call it "softball"....that's all he got from the reporter.
I wouldn't use the term "flake out," and I won't even dream of using the term "rational thought" with his decision either. It was / is a compilation of a lot of things. Red is the first to touch it in this thread to which I acknoledged. But, I didn't feel the need to go into detail about all the situations. Those back-to-back UF losses in the WCWS definitely messed with his head.
