I don’t know how the points systems may have changed from year to year, but if they are the same, or about the same LSU has been great (IMO) except for 2002 and 2005 and frankly, they were not really bad years, just off years. Rivals Year points rank 2002 1871 15 2003 2626 1 2004 2492 2 2005 1335 22 2006 2238 7 2007 2518 4 (not final) Scout Year points rank 2002 1452 15 2003 2625 2 2004 2404 2 2005 1423 19 2006 2046 7 2007 3996 4 (not final) I have to assume something has changed because on Scout, this is the first year anyone has been over 3,000 points. I think Rivals has been more consistent. Last year was the only year anyone finished over 3,000 points (Florida was just over by a few points). ldskule:
And of course we only could sign 13 players in 2005, the class was still very solid (3.69 avg on Rivals). A normal size class of 25 would have put us in a dog fight for the top spot with USC that year.
Bottom line...we have become a recruiting machine. Which means, we have a great program with great players and a great chance to win BIG every year. Cant ask for much more than that.
Better for me is the stars-per-player ranking: 2007 -- 3.77 (#4) Les 2006 -- 3.64 (#4T) Les 2005 -- 3.69 (#4) Les 2004 -- 3.54 (#5) Nick 2003 -- 3.68 (#2) Nick 2002 -- 3.23 (#15) Nick The five classes that will be suiting up for LSU in 2007 are all top-5 in stars-per-player. LSU has never been so loaded.
Is anyone aware of any changes in the method of calculating the points/averages over the last six years that would make any of these comparisons less meaningful? ldskule:
Reports are coming in that another UF commit has decommited. Couldnt get a name; however, one step closer to that top spot if true. I'll try to get that name. Friend is a stubborn Seminole, and tired of me talking chit about our recruiting success.
DeMarcus Van Dyke. With FSU's class suffering so much, look for 1 or 2 big surprise switches from the Gators to the Noles tomorrow.
