Contact ESPN and complain; otherwise, Hebstreit gets away with nearly sabotaging LSU's SEC championship-game performance.

Here is the ESPN complaint form Tiger fans should fill out.

    Here's what I wrote:

I have lost a lot of faith in Kirk Herbstreit and the ethics of the producers of College Game Day.

As an LSU fan, I find it deeply troubling that Herbstreit would report LSU's coach was leaving his team for Michigan just hours before LSU's championship game. Then it turns out it's completely false.

Herbstreit's TV explanation is disingenous. His tone is one of "I was right and LSU quickly hammered out a deal with Miles in response to my great reporting." Baloney. I want a sincere apology.

Here is the link to the video of Herbie. This is actually the second of two segments of Herbie explaining the situation. The first was much more smug and ESPN quickly pulled it. (Click on Les Miles Locked Into Long-Term Deal w/LSU).

We all can demand, but in the end do you expect it to make a difference?

We all pretty much know Desmond Howard is the one who leaked the story to Herbstriet. I suspect what Desmond told him was pretty close to accurate at the time.

Did you really expect him to sit on the story? I'm sure behind the scenes the ESPN executives were pushing to get the story out and Herbie drew the short straw.

Let it go! Herbstreit was only doing his job and like COTiger said it was from another source. Miles never denied until the press conference so what did you want the media to do plus fans here had him gone also. I like Herbstreit and I do not think he was trying to pull a fast one. Get over it and enjoy going to the NCG with Miles staying.

Also, you can look at it as theraputic. You were able to vent, tactfully I might add, and get it off your chest.

Sure, you can send mass emails and spamming inboxes of ESPN execs. and go barking up all kinds of trees, but, as much as I've rolled my eyes at some of his statements over the years, the man DID say on ESPN following the Big XII title game that he DID have a source tell him Miles was leaving but that it obviously didn't end up that way.

he acknowledged his source was wrong and IMO, did everything but beg for forgiveness. I mean, he reported what he was told--and obviously his source has given him reason in the past to trust him...it just wasn't so this time and you can bet that Herbstreit will be more cautious in the future from "info" received from his "source".

The herb voted for LSU to be in the championship game last pm. He's been our supporter all year. I think the publicity his stunt prevoked actually helped us. So I will forgive and forget.

We should be thanking Herbie instead. Because of the leak and the big distraction over this story, I think it pushed Miles into staying. All he wanted was for Michigan to leave him alone until AFTER the SEC Championship game. He wanted the team to focus on the game and not his situation. Michigan alumni let the story leak like it was a done deal because they just assume he would take any offer they give him...apparently NOT. Says a lot about his integrity (and his wallet). :hihi:

Even if all turns out well, still don't like Herbie:

I find it very disturbing that alleged sports journalist Kirk Herbstreit would report that Les Miles will be the next coach at Michigan and who his defensive coordinator will be when he gets there just hours b4 LSU played in the SEC Championship game. Turned out to be completely false. His "explanation" that LSU quickly sealed a deal in response to his report speaks volumes of the arrogance he has developed over the years. Kirk Herbstreit, the Dan Rather of ESPN !
