It started in the early 80's. Until then Tiger Band and the student section came all the way to the 50-yard line. To free up sideline seats for season tickets Tiger Band was moved to the goal line, but not behind the goalposts. To make that pill go down easier, the AD started paying Tiger Band cash stipends.
We were students too! :grin::grin: Actually, this bodes well for me because I can still sit in the same place I have been for four years since this was my last year.
This move will probably make the band easier to hear on TV as well. As it stands now, the band plays behind the parabolic microphones used by the networks. That's why Tiger Band always seems louder at away games, where they are usually across from the microphones. Still, I liked the old seats and agree with Mr Wickes. GEAUX TIGERS
This was one of the worst decisions ever made regarding TigerBand. Where the football team goes, the band goes, period... 45, 90, or 325 members. Saving money by striking the very reason for the band's existence does not add up.
