channel 2 just said that the tiger band will be moving to the center section of the north endzone seats.

    thoughts?

i can't complain because at least that will cover up those empty seats that are always up there.

Just won't look right... The spot where they have been is outside of the student section correct? So in other words, they are filling up some student seats to sell more non-student seats...

I think that would be great, as far as acoustics go. This year, thanks to col reb, I was fortunate to have some great seats for one of the three games I went to but for the other two, though there's no bad seat in Tiger Stadium, I couldn't hear the band- well one game, it may have been due to Crystal's yelling for 60 minutes. :hihi:

Every time I was able to bring my kids to an LSU game, we'd always end up with seats on the Southwest corner or so and we'd hear the opponents' band and not ours. In fact, I'd vowed not to bring them again until we had seats where they could cause I wanted them to experience that and the noise of the student section- thought not necessarily close enough to understand what they were saying.

For the Arkansas game, we were on the 50 on the East side and they got to experience something they never had- Our DAM GOOD BAND was aiming their instruments right at us.

Sitting in the North endzone, I think the sound waves would travel better to the South and both sides.

Didn't the band play right behind the Greek section? If that's the case, I would think it would open up more seats for students.

I think they cut off right in the middle of the north endzone, with each side split by the tunnel. Someone will have to check the seating chart on that though.

The band has been sitting in the student section, in the bleacher seats.

Moving them around in the north endzone may fill up those seats, but it will still leave the seats they've been sitting in empty. Well not so much empty as available for use by the students that used to sit over the tunnel.

Mindy got it right. The band will now be above the season ticket holders in the lower NEZ. The area previously occupied by the band will be exchanged with the student section located above the NEZ. Its a swap of student tickets for student tickets. Not sure if its even or not, but us poor bastids in the NEZ won't be able to see those glimmering girls of gold anymore.

I'll say this. The last time the moved, the band members got a raise. (From the west side on the 50 to the current location) I understand that this is probably a deal for the new band hall which is good but also unfortunate because they deserve more than what they get now for the effort put in. But in the same breath, they get paid more than any other college band that I know so maybe its good. I think everyone knew the move was coming and the band was just waiting as long as possible till they could get something out of the move... money towards a new band hall. In the end I think everyone wins and now all of the fans will have a chance to hear the band. May even make the stands cheers louder.
