i'm sure Saban is loving all the headlines: Sporting News: "Report: Alabama players presented with banned substance before title game" NBC Sports: "SI: Alabama players may have used banned substance before ’12 national title" Yahoo Sports: "Report: Alabama players received banned substances before 2012 title game" Yahoo Sports (again): "Alabama players cited in SI story for using an illegal substance prior to the 2012 national championship" Atlanta Journal Constitution: "Report: Bama players took banned substance" CBS Sports: "Some Alabama Players Linked to a Banned Substance" CBS Sports (again): "Report: Tide players took banned antler spray before '12 title game" ESPN: "Salesman: Bama players used spray" Yahoo Sports: "Seller says he witnessed Alabama players using deer spray"
it's amazing that the Alabama players were even around these IGF-1 salemen in the first place. the two guys are based in a Birmingham suburb, just an hour drive from Tuscaloosa, and they have been around the Alabama football team hustling their products for years. per the original Sports Illustrated story on this: In 2008, he staked out the Alabama football facility... "Remember [Alabama LB] Jimmy Johns selling cocaine in the [Alabama] parking lot [in 2008]?" Ross says of the former Tide linebacker. "I was doing the same thing" Alabama sent the first cease-and-desist letter to them back in 2009 (pdf. of the letter) and yesterday, Alabama associate vice president for university relations Deborah Lane issued this statement in response to the news: “UA has been aware of this situation for some time, and we have monitored this company for several years. They have twice ignored cease and desist letters sent by our compliance office. We have maintained consistent education of our student-athletes regarding the substances in question and will continue to do so.” That doesn't look good that Bama has been monitoring these IGF-1 salemen for years, and yet, Bama players are still meeting up with them in hotel rooms and players' apartments as late as Jan 2012
"lack of institutional control" would get Alabama in a lot more trouble with the NCAA than just a vacated BCSCG victory
lol SportsHumor @SprtsHumor Deer-antler seller says he sold to Bama players as well. NCAA won't investigate as deer piss is basically cologne in Alabama.
lol Kathryn Tanner @yokathryn In case you weren't convinced that Alabama was redneck enough, our football team doesn't use normal steroids, but actually deer antler spray
Well guys I warned ya. Try not to make this a story. On espn is key guy is saying LSU players used it prior to our regular season win against bama. S maybe the key was deer antlers..... So our players according to this report are just as guilty of using a stupid spray which word is is a waste of money http://m.espn.go.com/ncf/story?storyId=8897280
Who gives a sheet? Bama could have used anesthesia drugs and the offense Miles put on the field would have failed. It's not good if Bama used illegal suppliments, but the gameplan the LSU coaching staff put together was much more offensive and should be banned by the NCAA. Bama players could have been wearing cinder blocks instead of cleats and Bama still wins. The biggest advantage Bama had in the game was LSU's offensive staff, not "negatively charged water".
