Just be glad that they don't adopt the policy of some schools like Okie State. They take 1 home game from the schedule and the only way you can get in is if you are a season ticket holder. Last year I think it was the Texas game. The people here hate it. In the eyes of the administration it will boost season ticket sales, for the fan, they just bitch because they can't buy a single game ticket for one of the best games of the season. It has increased season ticket sales but I expect that to drop off right along with the pokes short lived existence in what we call relevance.

well.... FWIW, there will never be an end to ticket increases as long as corporations like ESPN (evil disney!!!,) and networks continue to make millions off of college athletics... but for coaching raises? perhaps they meant to say a coaching raise... like for chavis. he's the only one whose performance warranted a raise -- and that was just because of interest from other programs.

Willing to raise ticket prices, yet not willing to raise them enough to buy out Gary Crowton?!?!? I think plenty of Tiger fans would pony up another $5 - $10 per ticket to see his a*s on a bee line outta BR!

yeah... good point, football is the money machine.

i almost turned a pretty heated debate into a fairly heated argument in my louisiana govt. class at nicholls about the topic. the professor (from out of state, who graduated from cornell and went to LSU law school for a while) was saying how backward it was that LSU is having to fire faculty and they gave CPM a pay raise. i was biting my tongue, but at least he understood that LSU's athletic department is not only self-sufficient, but turns a profits that helps out the school. but this guy is a self-proclaimed "republican" who bashes jindal almost everyday in class... and hasn't said one negative thing about obama yet. this is getting off topic though... but there were a lot of ppl in the class who were saying that CPM deserved even more of a raise than what he got.

Kind of hard to not give a guy who just brought you a National Championship a raise. Like you said athletics bring in a hell of a lot of money the least we could do is pat CPM on the back with a little more $$$.

yeah that was pretty much what i was telling the guy. he didn't disagree just said that it looked bad on the school... so i just said that that's why LSU has a storied baseball program, and that program makes money. he was trying to make a point, but it was a terrible one for a guy from cornell with a phd.

However in all this minutiae the thing that is lost is there is more than enough money to show the crow the door!!! Fly birdie fly. That unfortunately is not going to happen this season and it may be a package deal with CLM on his wing as he heads out of town next year. I just want the Tigers to win I don't care who is the OC, the HC, the AC/DC, Vitamin C or whatever else. We have the talent, show me the results!
