I just got back from the game. Quite a long way back from the stadium to Brightside, but you can do it in about 40 minutes. I decided to come back early tonight because I've had a headache about 3 days in a row now. Anyway, initial thoughts. First off, thanks a lot to the Team Katt crew for inviting me(okie, bayou bengal, podkatt). They are very generous and fun to hang around with. I would highly recommend them for their tailgate. I thought the campus itself would actually be more crowded before I went there, but frankly it wasn't bad. You are surrounded by people, but you have enough room to breathe and operate. The pregame was somewhat underwhelming. I guess I'm used to the F15 flyovers and stuff, but maybe they are saving that for later. The band plays quite a bit before and during the game. I'm slowly getting used to the songs and motions and stuff. The student section is organized, and quite frankly, almost robotic. They were almost always in sync with one another. As for the boo's, I only heard minimal when JJ was announced, and he wouldn't have even heard it at field level. I think there's seriously fans out there that just want to complain just because they want to hear themselves complain. That first pass to Toliver in the endzone that he dropped I heard people blame that on JJ. Seriously guys? The game itself was actually...boring? I guess in terms of competition, it wasn't close at all. We scored on every drive until like 7 mins left in the 4th quarter. We should have kicked that field goal instead, with the wind I have no doubt it would have gone in anyway. The coaching, I don't know what to make of it. Every part of the game was efficient for LSU. We didn't score TD's on every drive, but we scored on every drive and usually held the ball for long periods of time. I guess we'll have to call it a good coaching game, because they had the team ready, and they pretty much dominated. I also texted my mom 2 weeks ago that the Bills(my dads favorite team) are going to draft Peterson. We'll see if that comes to fruition, but the Bills are so bad and PP is so good it certainly looks possible. I look forward to seeing everyone again next week, it was definitely a good experience. West Virginia will be tough, probably tougher than this game was, but I am expecting to go to UF undefeated.
That's a good walk for your first game. You shut your mouth! Just Kidding. Those four notes will send chills down your spine soon enough! I miss those days!:bncry: Good times in the Student Section. Good times. I miss doing all of the motions for the songs. Hope you enjoyed it!!!:geauxtige
Man, I'm really glad you got to go to your first LSU game...but the pregame comment has me disturbed. I am calling the tribunal together to discuss your fate. Seriously though...what pregame are you talking about? Did you witness the band coming down the hill?? I have gone to LSU games with no ticket and with no intention of getting a ticket...just to see the band come down the hill. And I live 2 1/2 hrs from campus. I just don't understand that comment. May God have mercy on your soul.
Yeah, we're kind of disturbed by the pregame comment because that's a huge tradition here and one everyone looks forward too; ESPECIALLY when the band marches onto the field. I guess you have to be a life long Tiger fan to 'get' it. As for the F-16 flyovers, those are for the pro games. Rarely will you see that at a college game.
Yea, I went with podkatt he showed me where to go. I guess you misinterpreted. I took lots of pictures of that part, it was awesome. Except that after that, I went into the stadium and kinda just sat around for almost 2 hours, until the band did the entrance and national anthem. I think I would be better off waiting longer outside to get in, since I really didn't know where to go and what seats were good. Seemed like you could still get good seats if I waited. Obviously, I'm assuming Alabama will be different and I might need to get there quite early.
that is always a buzz-kill. you have to time it just right so that you're not sitting around waiting for something to happen. i guarantee you that next week will be more exciting. it's hard to get up for miss state, but it was the first home game, so i am slightly disturbed that the fans weren't as jovial and exciting as usual? it happens. on TV it seemed like the crowd was into it, but some of those drives ending in FGs kind of took the life out of them. if we mixed in a couple of nice TDs in there, things may have been a bit different.
The tribunal has adjourned, and the verdict that will decide your fate is... You are granted a reprieve, although it is a probationary reprieve. Any future negativisms toward the LSU pregame will be met with force. Go forth and complain about pregame no more.
Was great getting to know syr. Yesterday was kinda laid back, all around campus. Even our tailgate was a bit more laid back than usual. Fun, just not as much energy everywhere. I think next week will be different. Good to hear syr had a good time. Oh and we do have the ocassional flyover, but for bigger games.
Get used to the stupid comments from the student section. Frankly, there's just a large contingent of people in that section who have tickets because it's the thing to do socially and they don't really know jack about football. As far as atmosphere goes, yesterday was pretty tame. Wait for a Bama or Florida game or something like that and you will start to feel what it's really like to be a Tiger fan in Tiger Stadium.
