Fair enough, and I'm a girl who loves to wear dresses--usually. I've just always thought a football game in a disgustingly dirty stadium was a better place to wear, I don't know, hmm, jeans.
Was there also, and while in the morning the Gator tailgaters were far and between when they showed up they partied hard and were a ton of fun! We saw the cops a couple of times but for the most part they told us (and by us I mean Salty) to behave but other then that they were pretty cool. Hell we played flip cup and beer pong and nobody said anything to us, now that could have been because we were playing against Gator fans who knows! All and all I had a blast and once again I had fun in Gainesville! The town and fans have yet to disappoint!! The stadium is loud and fun! If you were able to step away from the thrashing we were receiving, you had to respect the crowd and the passion they cheer with! I still think we are better but it is sure something to see (but it was more fun last time:grin
Well I've been to The Swamp and at Jordan-Hare as well. Both are very loud. The Swamp is very loud on their cheers and loud throughout the game. However, when it's a big opponent and it gets to third down, etc., Tiger Stadium still has them all beat. And when we do our T-I-G-E-R-S cheer or play Pregame, I'm not sure anyone beats that noise. But yes, The Swamp is probably louder on coordinated cheers as a whole.
LSU girls do not really dress up. If a Georgia, Ole Miss, Alabama, Auburn, South Carolina, or even a Tennessee girl came down for a game they would be shocked that a large portion of our females wear t-shirts. sundresses ftw
My thoughts... Awful gameday experience in Gainesville. There was NOTHING to do there! NOTHING! I went with my brother, and it was just the two of us. It took us about an hour to actually find some tailgaters. We went to their Union to eat, and they didn't have any TVs to watch games on. We eventually found a little bar on campus (yeah, on campus) and watched Texas win. Another away game where tickets weren't selling for quite as high as I anticipated. I just remember the last two LSU@Bama games, and tickets were easily $150 a piece. The Swamp was loud as usual, but I see no difference from Tiger Stadium. Nothing will ever top the Florida game last year after the USC loss announcement in terms of stadium energy. The fans clearly got very very scared when we cut it to 20-14. They had nothing that entire drive.... Too bad we didn't get 5 straight drives, because Florida then got the ball back.
Dang man! Didn't you read any of the threads leading up to the game! You should have gotten one of our numbers and come and tailgated with us!!! It was a blast! Sorry you didn't have a good time!!!
totally agree i've been going to LSU games regularly since '94 and nothing was louder in any stadium i've been to (swamp, neyland, bama, AU, UGA, ole miss, miss st, texas, texas a&M,) than that part of the florida game last year. in fact , i'd say jordan hare is louder than the swamp. with the swamp 3rd and a tie btwn tenn and bama (even though tenn is larger) after that. if doing 2 bits in unison is really your thing..........c'mon.
Well, he posts on tigerroar, and I figured he would have asked some of them leading up to the game, but he didn't. And I didn't find this out until we were on our way. But honestly, their pregame campus energy is awful.
Well, I had a blast this weekend. We had a fairly large tailgate, maybe around 40-50 people. Ha, we had this one 50 year old Florida fan (Florida Bob) that spent the entire day with us. I agree with most of what Luke said. We spent about an hour around 1 or 2 walking around campus, and it was indeed DEAD. I got the finger a thousand times Saturday during the day. It seemed to be their thing. Like every UF fan riding by or in a group walking down road. I met VERY very few cool Florida fans like Florida Bob. The swamp was Loud and Rocking. (why is it that the sound system in Tiger Stadium is SO TERRIBLE?!?). Every fan in orange and blue participated in every cheer and chant. However, again i agree with Luke and think that both TS and JH are louder. Half the UF fans sitting in front of me in my section were complete douchebags, especially at the end of the first quarter. They were turning around screaming back at us more than they were paying attention to the game. 3 or 4 minutes into the second half, i didn't see any of their faces for a little while and they were Really quite. But then that got shot to s***, and i had to put up with it even worse. The "BLUE-ORANGE" chant is really goofy. The announcer in the stadium talks WAY too much. It seemed like every time there was even the slightest break in play, he was talking about something. I also got introduced to like 60 people that have something to do to the university (big boosters, alum, ....the 1998 girls soccer team) The girls on campus as a whole were not that attractive. At AU, you had to search for an unattractive girl. Florida, not so much. The bar seen on University Dr. is pretty cool. Gator City was PACKED and a 12oz bud light was 4 bucks.... It was pretty cool how LSU fans, once again, took over a whole block. After the bars closed, over a dozen cops showed up to try to break up the MOB. There was a nice GEAUX...TIGERS going back and fourth across the road. Other than the outcome of the game, It was a blast. I can't wait to do it again.
I so wish I could just enjoy the gameday experience like I used to. Perhaps after this bloodletting, I'll be able to. Expectations really take alot of fun out of the whole experience.
