I just got back from Gainesville today....we sat in a completely Florida section and were the only 2 LSU fans around....Everyone around us was real nice though, so it wasn't too bad. A few observations from G'ville: -Florida's tailgating scene is far behind LSU's, Georgia's, and even Auburn's....I wasn't very impressed at all by any of the Florida set ups. Didn't help that they had all these lame alcohol laws. No open container (on gameday WTF?) and no "competitive drinking games" according to one police officer who came by our tent. -The Swamp remains my 2nd favorite stadium in CFB. It is my second trip down there, and considering the outcomes of both trips I'd say it might be my last for a while. -Florida's offense was legitimately scary last night. There wasn't one third down that I felt confident we would get the stop. And sure enough, we never did as the Gators only punted one time.....That scheme can be unstoppable at times with all that speed and Tebow's uber-cheeziness.... -I was gravely disappointed in how LSU played. That is the worst I've seen them play under Miles....Especially on defense, but Florida's speed had a lot to do with that. The turnovers and penalties were something we absolutely could not have if we wanted to escape the Swamp with a W.....We shot ourselves in the foot multiple times throughout the game-can't spot Florida 20 points at home and expect to be able to come back. We looked like we were back in it at one point but then the bottom fell out again.... -Florida fans have no rhythm. If you ever want to hear what 90,000 people clapping at all different times sounds like, go to a Florida football game. Nothing more annoying than seeing a bunch of jort wearing rednecks clapping off beat during a song from the band...It's even worse when they all try to do the "Chomp" with their arms at the same time...sounds like a firing squad. -Florida women are very hot, and very skanky. At LSU, most girls wear dresses on gameday....in Florida, it was either booty shorts or a mini skirt it seemed. Course I wouldn't have minded that so much if I wasn't with my g/f all weekend -I left with like 8 minutes left, when Florida got into the red zone again after our failed onside kick....can somebody tell me how they got 51? I told my girlfriend that Urban would never call off the dogs, and that that 41 was likely to be 48 by the time we got out the stadium, but I never thought that prick would tack on a FG too....But that's the kind of guy Urban is so no surprises there. - Florida is still my 2nd fav. SEC team, it's where my sister goes to school and I've always liked their colors/tradition/stadium/etc. but I had to give my gameday experience a B-.....Great stadium, relatively friendly fans, but the overall atmosphere was lacking that certain electricity I'm used to for a big SEC game....I don't know, maybe I just didn't completely "get it", just seemed like a buncha people sitting around...I mean the no drinking games thing is just unheard of, not to mention the general scarcity of huge set ups. Those were just my thoughts from the weekend, congrats to Florida for kicking our ass and I def. hope to play them again in December.
was in the Swamp also. it's louder than Tiger Stadium... It really is. Because ALLLLLLLL of their fans participate in their cheers. At LSU, half of the stadium does. The other half doesn't care, or is too drunk to know what's up. That place is louder than Death Valley imo.
It might be because we were sitting high but it didn't sound that loud to me...we were with some older fans too....It was definitely loud don't get me wrong, and we're probably only talking like 3-4 decibels difference but I think Death Valley and even Jordan Hare are a bit louder in my experience....Probably all depends on where you sit at all those places though.
Agree here. I think Florida's 3rd in loudness as far as the stadiums I've been to. Tiger Stadium is 1st, Jordan-Hare is 2nd, Sanford is 4th. I've not been to Neyland, however.
I was on the field and I thought it was louder. But I mean, it's so close either way that it's like splitting hairs... I just liked the unison of their fan base.
My only comment about all that is: why is it considered a good thing that LSU girls wear dresses to football games? And you must've been Greek because they are the girls that wear dresses to a football stadium. Geez...
As far as loud goes, I was in Tuscalooser in '05 when they freakin beat us like a drum. That was the loudest football game I have ever been to---- -------also the worst $200 I have ever spent o:
No, not a greek, just prefer my females in dresses as opposed to booty shorts. Nothing wrong with not wearing a dress to a game obviously, t-shirts, jerseys and jeans/shorts are cool with me, some people like to keep it casual, but some girls like to "get cute" for a game...The ones at LSU who do usually do it with some self respect, whereas I saw a lot of scantily clad Florida girls...I was just comparing the classiness of the two schools' respective garb, as I perceived it.
Well I have seen skanks in dresses...just go to a Georgia game...I know that is probably mean and crappy for me to say but when I went to Florida Georgia last year the girls were all dressed up but wasted and sloppy as could be. They ended up looking dirty and desperate.
