Hello All, I'm new to the whole message board thing, but its been fun so far. I have a thought on the JJ situation. After the UGA game he was quoted as arguing for the coaches to let Scott run it on the final play. Everyone in the media said it was a great thing and showed how he was buying into the team concept. I feel like this shows his major flaw which is he is not a born winner. In every sport the winners want the ball at the end. JJ does not. I'm not saying he wont ever, but right now he just doesn't have it. I don't know who I would start against Auburn, but JJ just isn't doin it.
The kid can't win. If he wants the ball and throws a pick inside the 5, he's selfish and a horrible QB. If he wants Scott to get involved, he's timid and doesn't want the pressure of the job. I would love to know what all the people who want Lee to come in would think if he throws a pick 6 on his first drive. To be quite honest, if I were Jefferson I'd want to see Scott or Keiland getting a lot more touches too just to get some balance in the offense and not make it solely my responsibility to move the chains and put up points. And the entire weight of the LSU offense SHOULDN'T be on his shoulders either. With an ineffective OL, it's the coaches' responsibility to figure out how to get our other playmakers involved, and they aren't doing that consistently. I believe in giving credit where it's due and laying blame where it's needed. Les Miles is getting a ton of flak over offensive playcalling, and frankly, he deserves every bit of it.
i agree.... somewhat. jefferson has regressed since last season. maybe it's the o-line, maybe it's a sophomore-jinx of sorts, maybe he's rushing things... i don't know. but who's better? maybe shepard. i'm not opposed to seeing jarrett lee (something the coaches said would happen throughout the season) on a few plays to see what he could do. i'm not ready to completely dismiss jefferson, but it's midseason and something needs to change. as winnable as the rest of the games are, they won't be won without offense.
I think you are reading too much into it. He is simply a young and inexperienced quarterback. He is and should be the starting QB for now.
I moved up here about a week ago, CLM hasn't noticed yet. All I know is if you play sports you know what I'm talking bout. Even in church league Bball there are those guys that want the ball at the end. I dont know if JJ is that guy. I don't know if JL is either. But we need to try something to get this offense going. And I do understand how tough it is for JJ or any QB to balance confidence and wrecklessness.
some of it is on Jefferson though. You can't just sit in the pocket, start a campfire, make some smores, and then throw the ball. alot of it is the OC not designing plays best suited for our quarterback. I still don't think it would be a bad thing if there was split time.
JJ definitely needs to throw the ball on time and make progressions. I was responding to the OP's comment on who should START against Auburn. There is no way anyone should start over JJ at this point, but I agree it might be good for RS and JL to take some snaps. It could be good for JJ to have a break between snaps to get coached. We have to find a way to move the ball, get 7 and keep the D off the field.:geauxtige
this was gone over 50 times in another thread, which you being new, you probably didnt know. Welcome to the forum.
