Well we knew that was going to happen anyway. We can't do anything about that. We always play those 4 teams at the end of the year. Is it better to get those tough games over at the beginning of the season? I don't know, you can't really worry about them. You have to worry about yourself and if LSU is the best LSU they can be, they can beat anyone in the country, and a seasoned LSU team I feel that has played more games regardless who the opponent is, will be better prepared to take on the better teams.
well look at the set up, we got right into MSST the first game after having a cancellation, thats not easy. Auburn was expected to be good, still an SEC game. Syracuse was better than expected. Its not going to get any easier with SC and Florida in the middle of the schedule.
I agree, but I think this schedule sets LSU up for a run more than any season in the last 10 years. i see how playing the tough games early could be an advantage because you can bounce back and have time to do so, but you could also run into a team that is pretty good and you haven't hit your stride yet. But, playing Alabama and Ole Miss and A&M late they could also be a lot better at the end of the season too.
If we can stay pretty much injury free and cut down on the frickin' penalties I like our chances against anybody.
My Saturday Slate (10 games): (I know, it's kind of sad) Texas (1-3) vs. #4 TCU (4-0) 11am on ABC #23 West Virginia (3-0) vs. #15 Oklahoma (3-0) 11am on FOX 1 #13 Alabama (3-1) vs. #8 Georgia (4-0) 2:30pm on CBS Texas Tech (3-1) vs. #5 Baylor (3-0) 2:30pm on either ABC/ESPN 2 #1 Ohio State (4-0) vs. Indiana (4-0) 2:30pm on either ABC/ESPN 2 #21 Mississippi State (3-1) vs. #14 Texas A&M (4-0) 6:30pm on SEC Network #3 Ole Miss (4-0) vs. #25 Florida (4-0) 6pm on ESPN Arkansas (1-3) vs. Tennessee (2-2) 6pm on ESPN 2 #9 LSU (3-0) vs. Eastern Mich. (1-3) 6pm on ESPN U #6 Notre Dame (4-0) vs. #12 Clemson (3-0) 7pm on ABC - 5 matchups between ranked teams this week. - 14 teams putting their perfect record on the line and its guaranteed that at least 4 teams with perfect records will have a 1 in the loss column by days end. - 4 teams on potential upset alert watch list (wishful thinking) Baylor Ohio State Texas A&M Ole Miss Texas vs. TCU. Texas is pretty much in a must win situation, or they are screwed. I honestly only see 3 winnable games left on their schedule. So if they can’t pull a few upsets starting with Saturday, they are looking at 4-8 season, and that includes wins over Iowa St and Kansas St. TCU has 7 starters out on defense, I doubt Texas pulls the upset, but that's why they call it an upset. West Virginia vs. Oklahoma. Both playing extremely well right now, should be a shootout type game. I give the edge to OU because it’s in Norman. Regardless, one undefeated team will lose. Bama vs. Georgia. This might be the best team Georgia has had in 10 years. Loaded with NFL talent. But somehow, I feel like Georgia chokes this game away and Bama gets the win. (Its what Georgia Does) Texas Tech vs. Baylor. Tech played TCU to the wire last week, and TCU won on a lucky ass tipped ball play. Tech is no joke. Their QB Mahomes has already thrown for 1400 yards in 4 games. If this game were in Lubbock I’d go with tech no doubt, its probably unlikely but I definitely have Baylor on upset alert. Ohio State vs. Indiana. Another game I am reaching on, but I have Ohio State on upset alert. Indiana has a beast of a running back in Jordan Howard, but their defense is atrocious. Ohio State will have to beat their self, but with the way they have been playing this year, it’s possible. Mississippi St vs. A&M. Should be a fun game to watch, similar to the WVU vs. OU game. My brain says to undoubtedly give the edge to A&M because they are in College Station, but I'll be pulling hard for the Cow Bells to pull the upset. Ole Miss vs. Florida. Another upset alert for me. This one should be a very low scoring game. Ole Miss strength is their passing game and Florida has one of the best secondary in the country. Regardless, another undefeated team will get beat Saturday. Arkansas vs. Tennessee. The only matchup without a ranked team on my slate this weekend. This game is very appealing. Both of these teams are in a MUST WIN situation. Both have their backs against the wall and have completely shit the bed this year based on their expectations. LSU vs. Eastern Michigan. Nobody other than LSU fans care about this game. LSU has Leonard Fournette and Eastern Michigan checks in with the WORST rush defense in the nation. Should get ugly and get ugly quick. Notre Dame vs. Clemson. Another intriguing game. Gameday will be there. Don’t like either of these teams and want both to lose. I want Notre Dame to lose more. But regardless, one of these unbeaten teams will have a loss by the end of the day.
I think that is the mortal lock of the week, I got my bet in as soon as I saw that......don't think Saban isn't using that on the bulletin board.
We still have to let all of this play out. I think we can safely say that AU is a big, fat bust, but the jury is still out on how good (or not) MSU is. That may have been one of our "tough" games right out of the gate.
