He was shocked to find himself uncovered and just came in full bore and didn't maintain control enough to jump up at the ball instead of plowing into the kicker. He would have blocked it if he could have gotten 9 inches higher. Les will play him some more.
It's amazing how Les can make so much sense and be straightforward in a post-practice interview, yet freezes up once the lights and national TV cameras are on him. Just his nature I guess.
