yes, but those defensive penalties had little effect.

yeah, you have a point, but i think that's the least of the worries for the offense. I guess the defense could just score points also like they had to do in the Mississippi State game.

honestly, i think there is some point where you say the D has to ratch up the aggression a bit and force the issue to create short fields for the O. i don think this team is at that point. florida's D is really good.

Yeah, i would like to see the d cut all the yards given up from their 1 to our 30 also, it would help with time of possession, and field position, and would probably help the D line not tire out so easily. What did concern me with the d is something that we have all talked about alot and that is pressure, i noticed that Florida was getting pressure with 3, doesn't seem like we get any with 4, and i understand it against UF because they have the best O line in the nation, but against ULL?

it is weird. clearly chavis doesnt put a priority on pressuring the qb. i would think that particularly with solid DBs that he would feel more free to send a LB or safety more often.

i wouldve thought uga would be the game to get sacks with little running game and a pocket passer. we'll see what happens against OM and bama.

I don't feel like that is entirely accurate. I think Chavis is in a position where he has to work with what he has. Our front 4 is absolutely incapable of putting any pressure on a QB. The few times Chavis has brought an LB on a blitz the offense has picked it up easily. It appears that he feels like the odds of getting to the QB are far less than the odds of successfully defending the pass with a full set of defenders. I think once Chavis finds some D linemen that can rush the passer with some success bringing an extra rusher LB or DB will be much more successful. I don't think we will have a 100% clear picture of what a complete Chavis D is going to look like for another season at least.

I agree with this, how is it that all the talent we have on the DL and we cant get to the QB. Do you think its time to play Montgomery and Brockers?

its a #s game. some % of the time you will hit your # and sack the QB or cause a turnover. sure there is risk. i think chavis is playing it too safe considering the strength of the back 7 and the struggles of the O.

    yes, cant hurt much.
hell, i kinda wonder if they shouldnt move barksdale back to DL. he was all-world you know.

Man, you hate to burn a redshirt this late in the year. Are they not playing because they are not ready or does the staff really want to redshirt them? That's the big question. Also if the offense doesn't get it's act together does it really pay to burn a RS on those guys? Either way it's evident that the DL is severely lacking when it comes to pass rush for some reason. I'm confident that Chavis will get players that can do the job especially with Hailey(sp?) at his side. It just may take a little time. Meanwhile you can't complain much about what they are doing with no pass rush. The scoring D is really something to brag about and the team is still learning the system. In a year or two Chavis could really have a championship caliber D on his hands.

What i am impressed with is the way he has turned our Linebackers around. Our linebackers were crap last year, and they started out a little rough with tackling this year, but have really turned it on, especially Kelvin Sheppard.
