Where did I say it was "just one play"? At no time did I place a restriction to just one play. You could have picked the big gain to Lafell, the mix of running and passing by Jefferson or the big penalty by Florida as the reason why that drive stood out among other drives, but no. You choose to give credit to the manner in which the play calls were delivered to the players. Be it one play, twenty plays or every single play of the game it's a ****ing retarded notion to blame the offenses inability to score on the players looking to the sidelines for audibles. You can keep hammering away on every thread of this forum, get people to agree with you and have it chiseled on your tombstone. It doesn't make it any less retarded.
Your the one that thinks Kayne West is a great credit to the music business so I would be careful with slinging the retarded word around!:thumb: You might want to read this... 2theadvocate.com | Featured LSU Stories | Running on empty — Baton Rouge, LA Credit to Mastermind for finding and posting this! So as you can see I am not the ONLY person that understands what that scheme of play calling is doing to this offense and is in itself the leading cause to many of the problems!!! As far as the one play comment from you I missed quoted you but you also miscommented on the post that I made that "The drive we scored our only points on was a drive were we ran each play from the huddle and NOT ONE PLAY came from the sideline" And also do yourself and everyone else that is subjected to your sometime delusional post go rewatch the game....and really pay attention to the plays that are called from the sideline which result in a sack...out of those passing plays watch the receivers and see if they are running routes OR run blocking!!!
Tebow rushes/yds/1st downs 1st Q--2/0/0 2ndQ--3/13/1 3rdQ--7/17/2 4thQ--5/8/1 passes/yds/1st downs 1st Q--2/3/1 2ndQ--2/3/2 3rdQ--5/8/2 4thQ--2/3/1 clearly they held tebow back early until they were sure he was ok (5 rushes first half vs 12 in second) looking at the stats, the 1st half was a push. yds/down LSU 1st--4.8 2nd--6.5 3rd/4th-3 3rd/4th yards-to-go---3 3rd/4th down conv 2/6 UF 1st--6 2nd--7.5 3rd/4th-2.4 3rd/4th yards-to-go---3.2 3rd/4th down conv 2/5 the main difference was the TD and maybe one LSU penalty let UF get a FG. 2nd half yds/down LSU 1st--4 2nd--4.3 3rd/4th-1 3rd/4th yards-to-go---12.3 (because of sacks and false start penalties) 3rd/4th down conv 0/6 UF 1st--7 2nd--3 3rd/4th-2.3 3rd/4th yards-to-go---3.7 3rd/4th down conv 4/8 (one because of LSU penalty and not counting final series) UF held tebow back at the beginning of the game, but not really after that. I also dont think you can say that UF played real conservative at least not more than they normally do. they play spread, rush the qb a lot and dont have good receivers. besides, they were passing at the end of the 4th (remember the INT?) clearly the difference in the game was the one TD and 3rd down conversion rate (high for LSU because of sacks and false start penalties----uf has a pass rush, LSU doesnt.)
No disrespect to your D but I completely disagree with you(stats and all) that Tebow played like he always does. Not even close. He admitted it as did Urban, not to diss LSU but just as facts. I watched the game again last night for the second time. Clearly it was conservative, even when he did run forward only a few of those times was it with his typical bravado for a QB. And yes our passing was all but absent but they wanted to play as conservative as a run game as possible. Your D was great too by the way. Both of our offenses need much improvement though to say the least. If you can bring the same D you had on Saturday to all your future games and get a little more confident QB who will use Dickson, Randle et al you will be successful, but I think there are coaching issues you guys are dealing with as well as us and Addazio's lack of a passing emphasis.
that is purely subjective. i could say that with all the hype about the concussion that everyone is looking for something. perhaps if no one knew anything about a concussion, theyd all think any lack of "bravado" was because of the LSU D. our DL was getting offsides penalties like crazy. that never happens. maybe they were all recovering from concussions too.
Our D was solid. I wouldn't say they played great because of all the false starts and the two 15-yard facemasks (although the Chad Jones call was pretty pathetic). I don't feel Florida really held back much. I think Tebow played somewhat cautious in the first half, but played less cautious in the 2nd. I think LSU would have actually had better success if Tebow would have had even more runs (though he did have 17 rushes). It was the quick bursts through the middle that were killing LSU. With Tebow running, you have a little more time to plug the hole before he gets there. You just have to be physical once he gets there (few teams are). They are a running team this year. It's how they play and it's a little different than the last few years. Just go look at their stats for the year. And remember, they weren't holding back when they tried that long pass with just about under five minutes left and we picked it. He might have regretted that if LSU's offense would have been able to do anything. I also think Meyer would have gone on that other 4th down had LSU not stuffed the 4th and 2 play earlier in the game. Well, he didn't kneel on the ball. They just didn't break a big run and he didn't want to pass it again and have it picked off like the previous drive (which wasn't the smartest move by him). He just wanted to get out of there with the W and so he played it smart on the last drive. A field goal from there wouldn't have been automatic at all either and it was 4th down when the time ran out. I don't think he was trying not to score. 16 pass attempts is not a career low for Tebow. He only had 15 attempts against Tennessee last year. Maybe it's a Chavis thing. Hell, he only had 10 attempts against Kentucky when he got knocked out of the game in the 4th quarter. They just don't have him passing as much this year and his pass attempts have decreased each year since since the end of his sophomore year. If you can run with success, you don't need to pass that much. Urban is smart to go with what is working.
I don't get the unending praise for our defense the other night. Sure, we only gave up 13 points, and that should be enough to win if the offense is playing anywhere close to good football. But look deeper. Some facts from the other night: Florida's average drive lasted better than 7 plays, including 3 drives of 11 plays or more. 3 and outs?....zero. That 7 play per drive average includes a 1 play kneel-on-the-ball to end the first half. Other than that one play, every UF drive ended in LSU territory. As a result of all of this, our average starting field position for the game was our own 22 yard line. We started 6 or 8 drives inside our own 30. It's asking an awful lot of our offense to drive 70-80 yards every time they get the ball, even when they're performing well. This has been part of our problem all year....the defense isn't giving up points, but they're not getting off the field. We've only started 8 possessions in opposing territory all season, showing that the defense isn't creating many quick turnovers either (3 of those drives started after good kick or punt returns). Conclusion...both units have to feed off each other. The offense is an easy, obvious and justifiable target for finger pointing. But the defense has to shoulder some of the blame as well. They're far better than what we had last year, but there's lots of room for improvement.
Some folks need to take off the purple & gold glasses. UF LSU 1st Downs 22 12 Total Yards 327 162 Pass Yards 134 96 Rush Yards 193 66 Possession 36:30 23:30 That significant statistical advantage is bigger than the 10 points on the scoreboard IMO.
LSU needed two scores to win, there was 1:09 to play, he wasn't worried about a turnover. Meyer could have passed and gone for it. He didn't. Live with it. Yes, he played smart. No, he didn't try to run up the score.
