I agree 100%. The only thing I would add that I didn't see during my quick skim over.. was the lack of Shepard. We lost games last year due to a poor defense which was put into poor situations by Lee. This year.. we have a stingy defense -- we can afford a few INTs if it gives us a more potent offense. It's been the same in every game this season though.. just magnified against a very solid defense.
Other than Bama I don't think any of those teams have the talent to do what Florida did- lets be real here if we're going to give credit to the LSU defense for stopping Florida instead of attributing it to the Florida offense playing ultra-conservative ball-control (only 16 pass attempts a low for Tebow's career) then we should do the same for the Florida defense- they could be historically good I mean they've played 5 teams now and have given up 2 TDs neither of them at a time when it mattered (one comes with Florida up 31-0, the other late in the 4th with Florida up 23-6 and having yet to punt) it seems possible that this is just what Florida does to teams.
Fine- if you're going to go that way don't you have to do the same for the LSU Offense- maybe Florida's defense is just so good that teams can't score against them- I mean the most they've given up all year was 13 to UT in a game where they had both last years SEC sacks leader (Cunningham) and their defensive Captain (Spikes) out of the game. I mean LSU's offense has struggled at times this year no doubt, but this could very well be the best defense the SEC's seen in a lot of years- this Florida Defense is at the early-2007 LSU level.
Glad you came back after the game. Your defense played great. Ours did too. Your senior QB leadership showed us what we are missing. We had that in our national championship year. If we can get the O going, we will see you in Atlanta.
that would be 1 more attempt than he had vs us in '07 anybody think they were being "cautious" with Tebow in '07?
Exactly, they weren't hiding Tebow, if they had any concerns he wouldn't have played. Twisted said it best, LSU's inept offense, made it to where Florida, didn't have to try and throw it all over the field. And if they had, i still think our defense would have stood strong. They gave up yards, but they didn't give up crap when it counted, and the 1 TD they did give up was horse****. They went up against a veteran offensive line, maybe the best in the nation, the best college quarterback uh....EVER, and fast, shifty running backs. They gave up nearly 200 on the ground yes, but how many touchdowns on the ground? How many touchdowns did the guy who is going to end up being the SEC career rushing touchdown king get on the ground? NONE, this defense is the real deal, and i am PROUD AS FU(K to have them here, along with Chavis. This is why i wouldn't mind seeing what Jarett Lee could do, because our defense put him in impossible situations last year. But we sure as hell could move the ball couldn't we. Why not rotate them, and go duel like we did with Flynn and Perriloux. We have to generate some kind of offense, because at this point we still control our destiny, and still have a very legit shot at Atlanta. :geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux:
That's because the defense is showing something that would disrupt the play that was called in the huddle and the offense looks to the sidelines for an audible. The offense needs to call audibles. That they're able to get out of the huddle and to the line with enough time to make this adjustment is a example of good discipline. I just wish it would translate over to blocking. The idea that the reason the offense is playing poorly because they look to the sidelines for playcalling is as ridiculous as the notion that LSU lost because I forgot to wear my lucky shirt with the coffee stain that looks like Herb Tyler.
I said "designed runs". Plays meant for him and him only to run the ball. In the first half and he had 5 carries of which maybe 2 were designed for him to run. He ended up with a lot of touches but he also just fell into the line quite a few times instead of crashing in like normal. Especially on their last drive that was killing clock.
Right thats why in the game last night our ONLY points came on a drive where NOT ONCE did the play come from the sideline! And like the replay showed the play came in from the sideline the ball was snapped Jefferson drops back to pass and 3 out of 4 WRs were RUN BLOCKING 5 yards from the line of scrimmage.
I cant believe we watched the same game. How many times did Tebow take the snap from shotgun and run straight off tackle? Thats classic Tebow but he wasnt doing it last night. Most of his runs where option. Im not trying to mitigate what the defense did but it seemed pretty obvious a lot of the play calls were designed to keep Tebow from getting hit square on.
