You know there are a lot of individuals that have posted that bash people for being worried about this recruiting class and worried about what is going on. But Jamie Newberg states it best; https://twitter.com/#!/search?q=#LSU @JNewbergESPN Jamie Newberg Can never remember a 13-0 team like #lsu losing title game & very little to no recruiting momentum in Jan. Stunning. Tigers r elite program It is not that the sky is falling, and it is not that we will not finish well on Wednesday, obviously if the news about Liggins this morning is correct that is our first step in that direction. It is simply that the Tigers are an elite program and just finished 13-0 and killing everyone, had a bad game in the BCSNC but having little to no momentum in Jan after such a great season is a little stunning and the people who have been inquiring as to what is going on are as perplexed as the so called individuals who have knowledge in the area. It is ok to ask questions the day we stop, is the day we start moving backwards. I firmly believe Miles and Co. will have a strong classed signed, sealed and delivered on Wednesday with whomever they bring in to fill the final four spots it just has been really strange with a lot of things that have gone on and if you are a Tiger fan you have a right to wonder what is going on and are there any issues at hand. :LSU231::LSU231::LSU231:
since 2002 when Rivals/Scout started their rankings, these are the three BCS Champions that brought in the worst recruiting classes: 2002 Ohio State (14-0 record) --#25 Scout --#41 Rivals 2007 LSU (12-2 record) --#7 Scout --#11 Rivals --#11 ESPN 2008 Florida (13-1 record) --#5 ESPN --#11 Rivals --#21 Scout this is how LSU is currently ranked: 2011 LSU (13-1 record) --#7 Scout (21 commits) --#12 247 Sports (21 commits) --#15 ESPN (20 commits -- doesn't count 4-star RB Hill) --#18 Rivals (20 commits -- doesn't count 4-star RB Hill) also, after winning the 2007 National Championship, we only signed 3 new guys to the class after the game: the BCS Title Game was on January 7, 2008, LSU only added 3 more commits after that: -- 3-star DE/TE Lavar Edwards from Baton Rouge (Jan 26) -- 3-star/4-star OT Greg Shaw of Miami, FL (Feb 6) -- 4-star/5-star WR DeAngelo Benton from Bastrop, LA (Feb 1 or 3) -- he signed with LSU for the 2007 class, didn't academically qualify, signed with LSU again for the 2008 class, didn't academically qualify, signed with Auburn for the 2009 class compare to how we've done after the championship game this year: -- 4-star RB Jeremy Hill (Jan 18) -- 4-star LB Lorenzo Phillips (Jan 21) -- ???
Thanks for the info, so we are not as bad as the worst good to know!!! How close are we to the best? Can you post those stats also.
LSU ain't hurtin...I can't wait till we are busting heads again in 2012, and we have a real QB who slings the ball all over the field...and these chicken littles jump back on the wagon. I just hope they got splinters in their backsides from sliding off of it so fast after Jan 9th.
They are never on the band wagon. They will never be happy until we get rid of a coach that wins 10 games a year on average so they can relish in glee the day we hire one that will wind up averaging 8 games per year.
One average class won't derail the program. Plus the guys we already have and are bringing back will be better than the guys everyone else is bringing back. We'll be fine.
This class is more than average. It meets specific needs and will be a top 10. I would say very good not great.
