Assassinating Americans, Killing the Constitution? - Opinionator Blog - NYTimes.com More critically still, the Obama administration — like the Bush administration before it — defines the “battlefield” as the entire world. So the President claims the power to order U.S. citizens killed anywhere in the world, while engaged even in the most benign activities carried out far away from any actual battlefield, based solely on his say-so and with no judicial oversight or other checks. That’s quite a power for an American President to claim for himself. Let the spin begin.opcorn:
as far as i know presidents have always been ordering secret killings of civilians, even though it is explicitly illegal to order assasinations. i would like to see example of us citizens the president has had killed, if any, and then i would like to discuss whether i would actually classify those folsk as "civilians". it does seem like a pretty dangerous power for the president to have, but yunno, so be it.
When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty. Thomas Jefferson for some reason that quote came to mind.
So I need to watch what I am saying? There shouldnt be any spin actually, no president including Obama should have this power unchecked.
No you are good. You love you some barry. Now if my name was Glenn Beck I might have my neighbor start my car every morning. Just sayin
So was I good under Bush? Definitely not in love with Barry, I have the balls to criticize him openly, unlike other folks with other presidents, but pretend they have only when pushed on issues that they are hypocritical about.
not sure why you never get tiredd of the hypocrisy angle. bush hasnt been presidenbt for a while now, lets forget about who was critical of him and who wasnt.
That was directed at me, I'm sure. Let's see if Beck and I have this straight: There are no terrorists. According to Obama's National Security Director (Brennan), they are religious fanatics but are not our enemy. There is no terrorism. Again, according to Brenner, it's a "state of mind". There is no war on terror. Napolitano says it's an "overseas contingency operation". There are no terrorist attacks. They are "man made disasters" - Napolitano. But wait. There are a dozen or so American Citizens away from any battlefield who are marked for assasination, with no due process mind you, because they are terrorists, or associating with terrorists, or are participating in terrorism. OK Barry lovers. 'Splain that one.
