It seems every year some AD in the SEC decides to "experiment" with ways of making a "better fan experience." Last few years it was the UGA AD's crusade against alcohol that led to the loss of The Worlds Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. This year its Bama's AD and the elimination of free parking spaces near traditional tailgating spots. http://tidesports.com/article/20080721/NEWS/971390430/1011/RSS&source=RSS This sort of behavior must not be allowed to spread. Alleva would do well to ignore these ideas.
Like Red said LSU charges for prime parking. In fact, the free lots get fewer and father away every year. The SEC is big time football which cost big time money. Everyone screams that their AD is a cheap skate whenever it's time to make coaching offers, but that money has to come from somewhere. I would love it if tickets were cheap and parking was free but then I would be a USL fan. I know at LSU if you get out there early enough you can always find free parking at a decent spot. That's what I've always done. Let the lazy ones pay the big bucks for the ability to show up right before game time. Fine with me. I am 100% in agreement with you PodKATT on the BS changes they did the Georgia/Florida game though.
Alabama has a free bus system for fans. They shouldnt complain about anything. Plus if they remove some of the souvenir tents that make Tuscaloosa look like a middle eastern market on Saturday they could park a billion more people.
Isn't it hard to haul kegs on a shuttle bus?? I know they won't let you bring a grill on the bus, burning or not. :geauxtige:geauxtige :geauxtige:geauxtige
I don't mind if LSU sells prime parking to raise revenue. My major gripes on gameday are: *Police escorts for politicans...screw 'em...let them walk! *Inconsistent and idiotic traffic plan to empty campus after games *Eliminating large parking areas for a handful of RVs (Skip Bertman Drive) *Crappy mass transit / shuttle service to reduce vehicle volume I wouldn't mind paying a little more to offset any costs associated with correcting these parking/traffic issues. I would love to see the stadium remain packed until the end of each game but many people leave early to avoid getting stuck on campus for an additional 1-2 hours. I wish they could develop a plan to use the rail tracks to move fans to/from the stadium.
Maybe those who don't want to pay the frieght associated with BIG TIME CFB should root for a small college team instead? ... cuz this shyte ain't CHEAP!!! Etc., etc.
nah, get on last, be the first to get off, no problem. hmmm, could be a problem. Keep the windows down maybe?
