Robert Horry takes out Nash. Robert Horry gets suspended for two games. The NBA also suspended Stoudemire and Diaw. So the Spurs ended up getting two of the Suns best players ejected for a game by doing a flagrant cheap shot on Nash. The reports are saying that the NBA is following the "letter of the law" because you can't walk onto the court during an "altercation." If the NBA want's to follow the "letter of the law" they should also suspend Duncan and Bowen for coming on the court during an earlier altercation. That sucks. Suns still have a chance, since they didnt play the Amare at all the previous year and they had a faster tempo offense. But without Diaw, they really have no one to guard Duncan. Man that sucks.
It would be different if they were suspended for a game in SA. The Suns basically have lost home court advantage again with this.
That's the big issue as I see it. I don't have a problem with them suspending guys for leaving the bench, as there's a TON of precedent for them to do that. The rule's not that complicated. But Duncan and Bowen should be gone too. I wouldn't rule out Phoenix regardless. That little Canadian is a damned magician.
"Any player who leaves the bench during a fight automatically suspended for a minimum of one game and fined a maximum of $20,000; in addition to losing 1/82nd of his salary for each game, he is suspended." What defines a 'fight' in the NBA? I didn't see any punches thrown. Sure there was some pushing and shoving but definitely not a fight if you ask me.
see why people allege the NBA is fixed? Duncan came off the bench in the 2nd period yet no suspension for him...hmmmmmm
David Stern is looking more and more like a stooge.... This is making the Association look really bad..... :dis:
It's like he can't get out of his own way sometimes. He plays the tough guy role (and makes sure his staff does as well), yet seems oblivious to the bigger picture. His professionalism movement has gone pretty well, but the officiating and regulation of the game is taking a huge hit. I don't know how to fix it, but damn, there are some things that just seem obvious. It's bizarre that there's even a debate as to whether San Antonio is dirty. They're just dirty in a cowardly way, not like the '89/'90 Bad Boys of Detroit. Now THAT team was dirty, and made no bones about it.
Shaq last night in the TNT studio commenting on 'what if' AS and BD get suspended a game for leaving the bench. geaux suns
