i hate to correct your word usage or grammer, but the word is jibes. yes, voting a basic right. still doesnt mean maximixing turnout is good. people voting for good things is good. even if that thing wins 1 to 0
Now say the thing about how you call out intellectual dishonesty from either side again. The whole premise of social security is that the goverment keeps us safe. We are too stupid to save for our own old age, so government has to steal money from us every paycheck because without government we would all starve after we retire. And Social Security is an entitlement and Welfare is not. It has nothing to do with paying in or whatever. It has to do with whether the law requires the government to cut the check (like Social Security) or the does not require the governemnt to cut the check ( Welfare). None of this makes sense. You want to tax the rich (who already shoulder a larger portion of the tax burden) more, in order to spread the burden more evenly? Do you realize how hefty the raises on the poor and middle class would have to be? Do you think this stuff out before you type it? Of course we can. This is the dumbest thing liberals say. On what planet is the middle class guy who pays a lower effective tax rate, or a poor guy who has a negative effective tax rate (gets a refund of all his taxes plus an Earned Income Credit that is funded by some of the rich and middle class's taxes) carrying water for the dude who has the highest effective tax rate? It shows how clueless and self appointed moderates are on this issue. Draconian spending cuts on top of increased reductions of fraud waste and abuse coupled with massive entitlement reform.
I see very clear that their are corruptions in our government; there always has been and always will be. We are capitalist and capitalism breeds corruption. I love capitalism and it has been good to me but I have seen what it does to people who cannot contain their greed. Please outline for me exactly what the founders intended. The last time I checked this was a subject of considerable debate for the past 235 years or so. I want to know how you think our current system is a mockery of what the founders intended. At best, you are going to offer your opinion and because it is an opinion it will be subjective.
Same old Republican economic talking points, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.....it has never worked and will never work. Clinton and the Republican congress did indeed work well together during the 90's, in spite of all their bickering, right wing conspiracies and impeachments. I would only add that there was also the largest tax increase in our countries history that helped us to balance the budget. they did in the 90's what Obama and the current Republican congress have failed to do: compromise. Clinton compromised and they reformed welfare and cut spending. The Republicans compromised on the tax increase. As you pointed out the internet exploding really helped too, so....
so you think bad policy is ok as long as voting turnout was good? you would encourage the nazi party to vote? even if they had a chance to win?
I have offered the evidence but I cannot make you believe it. the whole premise of ss is to provide a safety net for seniors who do not save for retirement. our economy has sucked for quite a while but the one group who have not suffered are seniors......why? social security.
you are assuming that if more people vote the results will be worse than if only a select few vote. this is elitist and I will not answer your question about nazi's because it is irrelevant to this conversation.
I am talking about taxing everyone....rich, poor, middle class.....every last one of us. Don't tell me it doesn't work....it worked just fine in the nineties. Taxes were considerably higher then yet we had the most profitable decade in over a hundred years. I understand that the internet exploding had a lot to do with that but people were getting along just fine in the 90's while they were paying higher taxes. answer the question. why do you split your britches just to make sure that I get an extra hundred thousand in tax cuts?
only the corrupt can get elected to a higher office. And so it doesnt matter who anyone votes for anymore. Its a rigged system and great voter turnout wont change a thing. But it makes people feel good that they chose the most popular douchebag based on nothing. Its all feel good nonsense and the cycle continues. Im pretty sure you want to think your vote makes a difference but it does not.
