I wonder what they UGA fans are saying on their boards because they've won ugly twice now. Oh, and they've lost ugly to a team that lost to an unranked opponent a week later.
Trying to be positive here... We're 3-0, and haven't looked like world-beaters in the process. However, we are 3-0. A number of the so-called powerhouses already have a loss. The offense looks predictable and the OL needs to improve, as does JJ -- red55 mentioned something interesting in this thread: "I fervently hope that SEC defensive coordinators are as bored by LSU's offense as some of their fans." The thought occurred to me that CLM and Crowton aren't showing much because it will make it that much more difficult for our SEC foes to prepare for us. Sure, they can prepare based on what they see on film, but it just doesn't appear that we've shown alot. We look very predicatable in many situations; I don't put it past CLM to pull out the stops when we're in throes of the LSU schedule. Maybe what I'm stating is obvious; however, I'm no coach and never played football... :geauxtige
My issue with the play-calling thus far is that I think it's been a little 'too cute' at times. Call me crazy, but I'd like to see a little more conservative plan sometimes. Just line it up and go right at 'em. We very rarely line up in the power-I, and are too frequently abandoning the power running game. Tricky, misdirection offenses are supposed to be for overmatched teams (UF notwithstanding). When you have a talent advantage, you should be able to have your way running the more traditional plays. And this NONSENSE where the play gets changed at the LOS (from the side line) has got to go. I really think that Jefferson needs to be able to visualize the play before it happens to get his confidence where it needs to be. Instead, when they change the play, all he has time to do is rush the snap. If he were a seasoned veteran who had proven himself, then I might feel different. But for now, I think we'd be well-served to keep it simple.
Did I claim to know better than he about running an offense? No. I, as a long time football observer, feel I can ascertain quality offensive playcalling when I see it, particularly when I have a chance to watch over 36 games of patterns. Having watched LSUs offense the last three years, I think Crowton is overrated given his talent level, and do not feel he is the genius you and others crown him as. That is all. I do not want to or claim to be able to out coach Crowton, just don't get the schlong smoking others bestow on him and was voicing that opinion. And I don't plan on writing to him, amigo.
Dude, I am sure you are not serious, and know you are a smart guy. If you are serious, you should look up podiatry and pediatrics to see the difference.

yeah, O-line has some experience, but is young at most positions. just need time to gel. kind of reminds me of '07 where they looked unimpressive early, esp. against MSU, but then came on later and became much more effective and running game picked up as a consequence.
Wish I could agree with that, but they looked phenomenal in the second game of the season against VT. I fully expect a young unit to have some growing pains. But I find it extremely worrisome that they've not been able to improve at all yet.
Fr - 12 So - 5 Jr - 1 Sr - 1 It sucks right now. I hope they gel.. but I don't think this is a long-term problem. I think the OL will be back to being a strength shortly..
