I won't disagree. Unfortunately, this year is a perfect effing storm. Les was hired because he's the anti-Nick, and the players were tired of Nick's crap. Just offering a suggestion as to why the offensive playcalling might be sucking.
I'm really, really old too. I was in the stands for the '96 game vs Bama and despite the DC we win if not for two turnovers that led to Bama score's. Our offense put up 38 pts. As far as QB play Booty's sophomore season threw for 2,121 yds and 17 td's in '00 and was named 1st team all SEC. We also won the Peach Bowl vs GA.TECH 28-14. This years collapse is the worst I have seen.
You don't throw someone off a team for a couple of bad plays, but I certainly would have had him sitting on the bench for the rest of the game.
Obviously I was exaggerating, but he was on the field the same series (that HE single-handedly extended!)
Just a note: NOTHING was worse than the Lou Tepper D. That was an absolutely hopeless feeling watching that D. Our D is pretty bad this year, but that was on another level. And I don't know if I've ever seen a worse QB performance for a whole season as I have with Lee. I'm not knocking him, I'm just saying...
Wrong Bama game. '96 game Bama won 26-0 in Death Valley Herb Tyler got hurt early, and in came Brian Sparacino. Dude went 8/35 no TDs 2 picks. Shaun Alexander was a freshman at Bama and went for 292 and 4 TDs sat out most of the 4th quarter. '99 3-8 Josh Booty - 162/333 (48%), 7 TDs, 19 interceptions no bowl game. Only team in LSU history to ever lose 8 straight ball games. I don't even want to imagine a season ever being worse than 99.
Tepper's D was the worst. This year's D is comparable. Really, who out there didn't think Arkansas was gonna score when they got the ball with 2 minutes left? They're just not tough. And they yap too much. Les should make them run till they puke. He should make the entire D and the D coaches run up I-55 to Memphis before they lose the Liberty Bowl and all the committed recruits change their minds and go to Bama, Florida, and Ole Miss.
I truly thought we were going to stop them told Crip as much in a text about 6 seconds before they scored I jinxed us.
Yeah, I remember Jamie Howard having some bad games and one really bad year. Of course, this one is more fresh. But given the talent that is on our team compared to then, I still feel like this might have been worse. I could be convinced otherwise though. I just don't remember seeing so many awful passes in all my life. Even the screen passes were awful this year. And the pick 6 streak was unlike anything I had seen as well. But yeah, Booty and Howard both had comparable if not worse years. I'm glad both of them came back and had good years.
