My deal with Bama's "penalties" are this. They are never called while the game is in question. IF they get a penalty, it's when they have the game wrapped up or it's when they are backed up to their goal line (this way the "penalty" is only 1 or 2 yards). It's never a holding or clipping call on a big gainer. If I'm not working monday night, i'll keep track of their "penalties" and when they occur.
you are right...I remember a couple of years ago the Gumps went an entire year without an offensive holding call. Really got the attention of others outside the SEC....the REC has far reaching effects...especailly in the SEC HQ in B'Ham. The NCAA office talked to SlimeBall Slive and the head of officals. At least they are getting some calls ...but not at critical times...
I don't know if it was an entire year, but was definitely 8 games... Just so happened to be the same year a certain rb won the Heisman... On a call that is admittedly subjective and can actually be called in every play, how does that happen?
I was watching an Ohio St. game this year and they got called for a holding penalty. (somewhere in middle of season). Stat guy said theat was 1st hoding call in 3 seasons for the buckeyes. WTF
Not really surprising and you can't tell me these teams don't do it. You have to make sure your main cow gets the breaks.
no block in the back but 3 flags for facemask...they WILL keep this close no delay of game. giving short coach the TO
