I'm not saying that CLM is anywhere near the arrogant NS but this scenario looks and feels a lot like that situation. If CLM would have said it's a done deal I'm not going to Michigan than so be it...but he didn't. This is exactly what NS did. He kept saying I'm the LSU coach. Great. For how long? For some reason though I think he might stay. He seems more sincere than NS to me. Hell I don't know I'm all over the board on this one.
You'll know after the game. Someone will ask him directly if he will be the LSU coach next year. If he doesn't say yes, then we can assume this may not be over.
I still think he's going, but I hope everyone has learned to not hang on every word ESPN throws out there. I imagine that Les isn't sure if Michigan wants him to be the head guy because there hasn't been any contact. I bet that Les and Michigan have actually played by the rules.
I think if Les was still going, he would have said that he'd agreed to talk to Michigan out of respect for his alma mater, but that no deals had been reached like ESPN reported. I know a lot of people think CLM isn't the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree, but even Les can't think that he could "change his mind" after this. Plus, Michigan sites and media outlets seem to have confirmed that he had told UM no.
Les: "Hey, did you guys happen to catch the pregame stuff on CBS today?" UM: "Uh. Yeah." Les: "Tell Desmond and his friend Herbie to bite me. Have a GREAT day."
We'll see. Herbstreit is an Ohio St guy, right? I guess it would be in his school's best interest to sabotage Michigan. I still think Miles will go to Michigan if Michigan wants him. Why else would he put his team through all this speculation?
