Good thread IMO. I agree that 10-2 is a good year but I am disappointed in things, such as our offense. I am disappointed that our QB situation is in the shape it is, I'm disappointed our OC could not develope the offense much better than he did. I can't believe we were so inept inside the 10 yard line, even inside the 5. While my expectations were for a 10-2/9-3 regular season I thought we blew a good chance for an unbeaten season because of our offense and so many squandered opportunities vs. both AU and Ark. I'm also praying we get a new OC and the GA kid signs and takes over the QB spot this spring.
No he is right, LSU is tied for Second. Arkansas lost to Alabama, LSU BEAT Bama. So facts are facts. LSU is TIED for Second in the SEC west and tied for the second best team in the SEC. But fact is yes Arky beat LSU, but LSU beat Bama who beat Arky. Both are 10-2 with equal SEC records. So no we are not third we are tied for second. Here is a mind twister. What if Auburn, LSU, Bama and Arky all tied with a 10-2 record (6-2 SEC record) who goes. Assuming Auburn lost to LSU and lets say UGA.
Except its only a perception that LSU is A+. LSU was a C+ team at best this year with peaks at B+. Never did LSU play A ball, not once, not never... We have top grade athletes yes, however, most of our players this year were young and we are still lacking in REAL TALENT at key positions. O LINE, QB DE's Safeties...... etc Defensive injuries in the secondary took their tole. QB took its tole AGAIN. No Leadership.. These are just a few of the LSU issues. We all knew the negatives of this team and with those negatives LSU should have been an 8-4 team, however, they found ways to win. LSU overachieved so much this year its awesome because are returning players are going to carry that same quality that pushed them to win games over into the next year and build upon that success..
"Never did LSU play A ball, not once, not never..." Really the Bama game wasnt A ball ?? I agree there was some stinkers but to say the Bama game wasnt a pretty stellar coaching and overall performance I think is a stretch. Saban looked confused on the sideline, Miles out coached him in every aspect, and the fact LSU came to life in the second half shows some "poise" to use Mile's word. I agree the majority of the season has been hard to watch with the LSU offense, but the Bama was in my mind as good at it has been in a few years.
We had a great second half, but it wasnt A ball... (A) Ball consist of complete games, I didnt see any, but maybe you did.. Though the real point is, and what most fans are pissy about, is that LSU won these games with around C+ play. What we saw in the second half of BAMA is what the ENTIRE game should look like and that is what 80% of the season should look like.
Wold actually have to change Auburn lost to someone like Ole Miss of Miss St to keep it realistic since LSU and AU can't have a win and loss from each other. The answer is Auburn. LSU and Arky are eliminated because we both lost to 2 teams within the division. Auburn and Bama lost to an East team and Auburn won the head-to-head.
Well SC, surely not me. I think 3 losses in the SEC is most unthinkable. However the west was as impressive from top to bottom as anytime since the split conference games. Mullins did as much with less as anyone. I wonder if Miami was watching? For Alabama, teaching these kids to deal with success can be maddening. I think if we hadn't lost key Juniors on defense it wouldn't have been so dramatic. But now, it's where our program is and more Junior attrition is coming soon. Lock and load, Phillip Sims, AJ, Lacy, Fulton, your up next.
I disagree ..... LSU lost to #2 and #8 Arky lost to #2 and #16. It's the old round robin ... Arky beat LSU, who beat Bama, who beat Arky. I agree they are tied. 10-2 to 10-2
LSU fan expectations. I wasn't speaking for myself. I'm speaking from my experience and observations over the years. Based on what I have seen and heard from LSU fans, the majority of them would be perfectly happy to win 10 games a year, finish 2nd or 3rd Place in the SEC West for years without complaint. A trip to Atlanta every five years would placate the group. One SEC Championship every ten years would be sufficient for an HC to retain the job. LSU fans are very forgiving. Most do not demand or expect to be Champions every year. Am I off the mark here?
