You should be satisfied with 10-2 in a very competitive conference and a super competitive western division. No one should be satisfied with the performance of our offense and offensive staff. I think too many people can't separate the two and be happy with one and disappointed with the other. For some reason they think you have to be happy about both or mad about both. I can definitely appreciate the hard work and fight it took to go 10-2 with our schedule while at the same time saying that changes need to be made on the putrid offense.
well said. i fully agree with that. given i expected 9-3 i am happy with 10-2. as has been stated, the sec is the toughest division in cfb. and just the west is tougher than many whole conferences. that said, our o is not where it should be. we are in serious need of a qb and a new oc. an o ranked in the 100's is not gonna cut it. we need an o that is on par with our d. its ok to be satisfied with something while recognizing there is room for improvement.
Finishing 10-2 exceeded my preseason expectations, but damn, what could have been. Les has got to make some changes on the offensive side of the ball and I suspect he realizes it. Time will tell.
in all fairness, there are always extenuating circumstances. such as the kid had a math teacher who considered himself a genius, but in reality only managed to confuse the hell out of kids. tho the physics teacher was quite good. and luckily the principal motivated the kid to have a want to learn. then when we look at "just b's" we realize it could be 10 times worse. the kid could have gone to usl.
Maybe his profs. weren't good enough, And he went to a bad Public School. Maybe his classes were a little harder than high school, maybe the "kid" didn't apply himself well enough, maybe the "kid" drank too much before finals- sorry, I think I was talking about myself... 10-2 is pretty damned good for the "kid"! Took awhile to absorb the loss, along with all the damn Pulled Pork I made Sat. Our Bowl Situation is either Cap One vs. Michigan St. (we'll Kill 'em) or Cotton vs. Nebraska or A@M (we'll Kill all of them too) Not bad for an "underachiever"
Les Miles has never finished 4th in the west. Saban finished 4th this year. He also finished 4th in the west while he was at LSU.
Or as I have 1st hand experience from a child in a G.A.T.E program(gifted a nd talented education), who is in 3rd grade but is challenged with 5th and 6th grade material. He gets straight A's on 3rd and 4th grade material, but gets B's and C's on the upper level stuff. The thing is the teacher isn't required to teach the kids the upper level material, but chooses to so the kids will be better prepared when they get there. I applaud her for it and am willing to accept my sons lower grades knowing he will be stronger in the end. Same as I applaud Miles for taking on 7 teams that were ranked in the top 25 during the season, going 5-2. He isn't required to, and with the young talent we have we will be better prepared when we get there.
