And you have low expectations. I couldn't care less where any talking head thought we were going to finish so being satisfied with 3rd just because many picked us to finish 4th doesn't cut it. I know the talent this offense has. Finishing in the bottom half of the country in Offense for 3 years in a row isn't close to being good enough for a program like LSU. LSU lost the SEC West by 2 touchdowns. There are OC's at the high school level that would have done a lot more with the talent LSU has, even with our sub par QB's. It's just a matter of opinion. If losing 3 of 4 to Arkansas seems legit to you then that's your deal. Low expectations leads to 3rd place and being satisfied.
Evangel and W.Monroe have good OCs. lol. I agree on all accounts... the worse part is our division record the last 3 years with an offense near dead last in the nation. I gotta believe the OC is gone... too bad it won't be before the bowl.
If we had even marginal play-calling and QB development, we would be playing for the SEC Championship.
I think it sucks that we didn't win the west, but when the day comes where I can't look back at a 10-2 season and be satisfied... that's the day I stop watching college football.
I understand Brett's position. Striving for the best is never a bad thing. It's that search for perfection and not being satisfied with less that keeps us moving ahead in every field. Technology, certainly, is one with which we can all identify. Zork was great. But someone wanted more. Our computers get faster and storage tech provides us with almost unheard of capacity. I remember when we thought it amazing that you could have a computer that fit into a single room and held millions of pieces of information. What if someone had said, "close enough" and didn't keep seeking improvement? No X-Box, among a few other things we all take for granted. There are THOUSANDS of examples that can show the result of not being satisfied. That's not to say that we can't appreciate our achievements, whether on the field or in a lab - just saying that it is those few who are NEVER satisfied that keep things moving forward. It's not negative at all - it's the belief in something "better". And I'm for that.
It's really just a matter of opinion, and it's all relative. I happen to believe that LSU underperformed relative to the talent they have on offense. That there are many coaches that would have done much more but that's nothing more than my personal opinion. I find LSU's offense painful to watch with it's lack of misdirection and vanilla play calling.
LSU isn't 3rd in the west, LSU is tied for 2nd in the west, and also tied for 2nd in the conference. If LSU was in the east division, it would be SEC East Champion right now. The west is just a really competitive division this year, where 6 SEC wins just wasn't enough to get to the championship game.
AU has no losses. Arkansas and LSU both have two losses. Arkansas beat LSU head to head. AU #1, Arky #2 and LSU #3. It is what it is.
