Saban didn't steal jack ****. He got what LSU didn't pursue or what was too scared to compete at LSU.
Hopefully, Les is not putting his faith in 18 year old kids, who have done nothing on the field so far. The RR fiasco is the most ridiculous thing I have experienced in a long time. Mike Ditka comes to mind with a kid named Ricky Williams. We only got one WR in this class....are you kiddin me??? If it is true that RR's father controlled our recruiting process, than Les needs a wake up call. I sure hope that RR does not turn out to be the next Amp Hill. Shep is not one of the coaches, and needs to concentrate on football and his studies. The All-Star game made him look like an overblown mouth of talent.
These problems are the same issue - we are dealing with 18 year olds who change their minds. The guys Shepard (and posters) thought we had locked down were because they truly did love LSU, and even said they wanted to come to LSU at points, but they changed their minds... Nothing we could do about Janzen. Not dissapointed about losing Lacy or Bell. If Sentimore was going to be offered, we should've done it earlier & shown more interest throughout - a lesson I hope our coaches learned. Absolutely. Who we don't get doesn't matter. All that matters is who we did get - and I'm very happy with our class. I don't think talent is a problem with our DB's. It was youth & coaching.
A friend of mine brought this up. I would have to disagree. IMO, we covered our bases with Johns and taking 2 athletes (Claiborne & Calhoun) that could play multiple positions.
I really think the national perception is that Miles isn't all that great of a coach. I expect we'll have a great season this year and the respect Miles gets around the nation will shoot through the roof, which will help even more with recruiting.
