i don't think so, i think its more along the lines of, what happened on 9/11 and the explanation given was just too cut and dry. It was too simple. There has to be some sort of reason. Religion is the same way, its man's need for an explanation for something, regardless of proven facts.

What happened on 9/11 is clear cut. How the universe came to be is not.

exactly. the religious man is desperate for answers. and mostly there are none. it is a bit of challenge to accept that, to understand that it is quite possible that everything is meaningless and then we die. that can be a bitter pill to swallow, without the proper perspective.

but the answers to 9/11, they are simple and obvious, and you have to go to such great lengths to come up with other stupid truther explanations, none of which make any sense, all while denying the things that are clear and apparent. why do people bother? i genuinely think it is partially narcissism, to feel like they can see behind the curtain where others cannot.

I don't think its narcissism....if anything it's paranoia...paranoia based on the fact that the government has lied or been mistaken about significant events in the past.

You would have to be incredibly gullible to believe that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. Apparently the Gulf of Tonkin incident never happened. This was news to me....I don't know enough about that period but saw an interview with Robert McNamara where he expressly said they were confused, it did not happen, the torpedos were never fired.

Those are some pretty big misses there. It's not like they made a rounding error on a budget somewhere. They need to get that right and a large portion of the population has lost faith in the ability of the government to identify the truth, whether out of corruption or incompetence, it doesn't matter. The people almost instantly question government now. And with good reason....take a look at healthcare. What a mess.

I agree with you and disagree with you. The 9/11 evidence is there, it is clear cut, i agree with that. But people who don't agree with what the experts are saying don't believe it because its too simple. There has to be some grand scheme.

With religion what i was saying is that it gives an explanation for why we exist, and what our purpose is. Mostly it gives people a way to cope with the fact that they are going to die, once again there has to be some grand story.
