You may be right. But the presssure is on LSU to win this one not Bama. We're the one's playing with "house money". I expected us to lose at least one game before the season is out and this is the one I feel we may lose. But I also thought we'd lose the UGA game and the UT game as well, and in light of y'alls qb struggles and secondary struggles I say we have a punchers chance and there's no need to cancel the trip just yet.
You are half right. We both will have pressure. If Bama loses to LSU they probably go into the Iron bowl having to win to go to Atlanta. I don't think you want that scenario with Tubbs needing a victory as bad as he does. He would love nothing more than to make it seven in a row and transfer some of that heat from his seat.
That's been said frequently by some of our bama guests. However, you and I both know that the pressure is higher than ever for Alabama to return to a championship level. If the opportunity is missed this year, then it will be much like years past. For LSU, we all expected this year to be a rebuilding year. Although we expected to be more competitive than we have been, the record is as expected. Nobody here would be surprised with a loss to Alabama. Disappointed though? Of course. But there isn't the pressure on the LSU team that some people claim.
The suggestion is that a loss to LSU would not mean anything? Really? With the level of expectation I see in bama nation, I find that one a bit hard to believe. I do acknowledge that fans feel some pressure. I wonder how much the players really feel. I doubt they look at it the same way.
It is different kinds of pressure. Even now most of the "experts" have us losing a game by year's end. Most are now pointing to the LSU game as the most realistic one to lose (though we all know any SEC game is a realistic loss). It is no secret that we're doing this with a lot of RS Frosh, True Frosh and Sophomores. So any "let down game" or "brain fart game" won't shock the nation and to a degree many are predicting it. However, on another level for LSU this game has been hyped up, marked, circled in blood since the day Saban was hired to be a "signature game" or a "pay back" game to Saban. I've already seen a thread on here of "We must beat Bama." Which goes along with what I'm hearing on local sport talk radio shows regarding this game. So which "loss" would cause more groaning? I would expect an LSU loss in their own backyard in a game that has had "Armageddon" written all over by the LSU fan base, rather than a Bama team who's not suppose to be here anyway. But either way it's going to be one helluva of atmosphere.
I'm going to have to disagree with you here. As the season has progressed it has now been changed from "reloading" to "rebuilding". I read this board frequently in the offseason and from this board y'all had progressed from ever "rebuilding" again to simply "reloading". The term "reloading" was a buzz word on here for a while. In light of what has transpired up to this point with your team, it seems the "rebuilding" has now replaced "reloading". I just don't think you'll see the meltdown you think if we lose November 8th. But we'll both find out around 6:00 pm November 8th. :thumb:
And that thread reflects a very small % of fans that are unrealistic in the face of a loss. Something that fans have become unfamiliar with. Hardly reflective of the entire fanbase, anymore than the last bama poster to be banned is accurately reflective of yours. You guys are talking about pressure on two different groups. One is players and the other fans. Plenty of fans feel that angst because of Saban, and conversely, probably no players feel anything about Saban at all. If they feel pressure, it is to redeem themselves after an embarrassing defensive performance at home and Florida. However the pressure on your fans and players to not drop a game to us, MSU, or Auburn must be quite high because there is no margin of error. Lots of things are in your grasp, so the idea that there is little pressure on your players seems unlikely.
As far as this forum goes, I don't know where you are getting that from. Just about everyone here was expecting two or more regular season losses this year. Many expecting as many as four. Maybe you were reading when RP was still in the mix. Many of us were definitely still confident then. Well, I would call it cautiously optimistic since we all knew RP was always one mistake from being gone. Pediction: If Bama loses, then Bama forums, blogs, and talk shows will become Les Miles/LSU oriented. If LSU loses, then LSU forums, blogs, and talk shows will become Nick Saban/Alabama oriented.:thumb:
